Vaaman Engineers seeks a skilled mechanical maintenance professional for coordinating manpower and planning maintenance activities in the iron and steel sector, including pellet plants and DRIs. The role covers managing spares, enforcing PTW systems, and driving safe, efficient work execution.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with heavy plant equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, and pelletizing systems, ensuring maximum machine availability and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in Iron & Steel sector preferred, pellet plants (PP), DRI/sponge iron plants, blast furnaces or sinter plants.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate mechanical maintenance manpower for optimum equipment availability and work planning.
• Oversee spare parts inventory planning and management to minimize downtime.
• Plan and execute daily, preventive, and shutdown mechanical maintenance activities.
• Delegate clearance for work permits (PTW) and ensure safety compliance.
• Ensure safety of indirect mechanical maintenance manpower (PP3).
• Stop any act or condition that could lead to environmental or safety incidents when observed.

Role & responsibilities

• Manpower & Resource Coordination: Coordinate mechanical maintenance manpower to ensure optimum equipment availability, job planning, and work execution.
• Spares Management: Oversee spare parts inventory, planning, and management to minimize equipment downtime.
• Work Execution & Planning: Plan and execute daily, preventive, and shutdown mechanical maintenance activities.
• Work Permit Authority: Possess the authority to delegate clearance for work permits.
• Safety Accountability: Accountable for the safety of all indirect mechanical maintenance manpower in PP3.
• Environmental & Incident Control: Authority and responsibility to stop any act or surrounding condition that could lead to an environmental or safety incident then and there.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Qualification : B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Iron & Steel sector, specifically Pellet Plants (PP), Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) / Sponge Iron Plants, Blast Furnaces, or Sinter Plants.

• Equipment Knowledge: Hands‑on experience in overhauling, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heavy plant machinery, including:
  
• Heavy belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and material handling systems.
• Industrial gearboxes, high‑capacity drive systems, industrial pumps, and blowers/fans.
• Pelletizing equipment (disc pelletizers, traveling grates, coolers, induration furnaces, crushers, screens).
• Maintenance Management: Proven expertise in Preventive, Predictive, and Breakdown Maintenance to maximize equipment availability and achieve business targets.
• Spares & Inventory Management: Proficiency in spare parts planning, inventory optimization, procurement requisitions, and critical spares management.
• Work Permit & Safety Systems: Strong background in executing Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), job safety analysis (JSA), and risk assessments.
