Job summary

Tata Consulting Engineers in Surat, Gujarat invites an Architectural Designer for the NHSRCL MumbaiAhmedabad High Speed Rail project. This fixed-term contract role demands expertise in railway/metro station architecture and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.

Lead design reviews, ensure NBC and local code compliance, and support execution with timely architectural packages. Previous experience with DDC/GC in metro/rail is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree is required.
• 3 to 7 years of professional experience in large infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in Metro Rail / High-Speed Rail projects is essential.
• Experience with Detail Design Consultants (DDC) and General Consultants (GC) in metro/rail domains is mandatory.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and interface management.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and coordination for HSR stations and related buildings.
• Prepare concept design, detailed design, GFC drawings, and architectural specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with NBC, local DCR, fire, accessibility, sustainability and safety norms.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, MEP, systems, and urban design teams.
• Interface with DDC, GC, contractors, and client teams for development, approvals and execution.
• Review design clashes, constructability issues and site queries; support execution.
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and stakeholder meetings.
• Ensure timely delivery of architectural packages per project schedule.

  • RRTS / High-Speed Rail
• Prior experience working with:
  • Detail Design Consultants (DDC)
  • General Consultants (GC) in the Metro / Rail Infrastructure domain is mandatory

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage architectural design and coordination activities for HSR stations and associated buildings.
• Prepare, review, and validate concept design, detailed design, GFC drawings, and architectural specifications.
• Ensure architectural designs comply with:
  • National Building Code (NBC)
  • Local Development Control Regulations (DCR)
  • Fire, accessibility, sustainability, and safety norms
  • Relevant Indian and International codes & standards
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, MEP, systems, urban design).
• Interface with DDC, GC, contractors, and client teams for design development, approvals, and execution support.
• Review and resolve design clashes, constructability issues, and site queries.
• Support site teams during execution to ensure adherence to approved architectural intent.
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering, technical evaluations, and stakeholder meetings.
• Ensure timely delivery of architectural packages as per project schedule.

Required Technical & Professional Skills:

• Strong understanding of railway/metro station architecture, public buildings, and transit-oriented developments.
• Expertise in architectural design codes, norms, and statutory approval processes.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, SketchUp, MS Office (Navisworks knowledge preferred).
• Excellent coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple interfaces in large, fasttrack infrastructure projects.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in Railway / Metro of national importance.
• Exposure to international consultants or multicountry standards.
• Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
