Job summary

Weekday is seeking a Platform Architect to lead the design and evolution of an enterprise-grade cloud platform. You will translate complex business requirements into scalable, modular solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems principles, while ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineering staff, and drive best practices in architecture, CI/CD, Terraform/CloudFormation, and cost optimization on AWS.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of software architecture experience.
• Expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on AWS, VNet configuration, and network security.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect highly available, scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Define and enforce distributed system design patterns across the organization.
• Lead the planning, deployment, and management of AWS resources including VNet and security groups.
• Collaborate with DevOps to implement CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
• Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and performance tuning.
• Mentor engineering teams on architectural standards and cloud-native practices.
• Drive cost optimization and capacity planning using AWS tools.

As a Platform Architect, you will lead the design and evolution of our enterprise-grade cloud platform, ensuring it meets current and future business needs while maintaining high availability, security, and performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, modular solutions that leverage Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems principles. Your expertise in AWS and VNet architecture will be critical in authoring secure network topologies, implementing service mesh patterns, and optimizing cost-effective infrastructure. You will also mentor development teams, champion best practices, and drive continuous improvement across the platform lifecycle. Throughout, you will balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery, ensuring that every component aligns with our strategic objectives and compliance standards.
