Job summary

Matrix Comsec seeks a Senior/Principal Cloud Engineer to design and operate production-grade AWS SaaS platforms. You will own architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and drive security, scalability, and cost optimization across multi-tenant deployments.

Required 6+ years of experience, expertise in AWS, EKS/Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and strong architectural documentation skills. This role focuses on delivering reliable cloud infrastructure with governance and incident RCA leadership.

Qualifications

Who are you

You are a Senior/Principal Cloud Engineer with 6–12 years of experience, including 2+ years of architecture ownership, who has designed and operated production-grade AWS SaaS platforms. Strong hands-on expertise in AWS, EKS/Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, VPC/networking, IAM/security, RDS, ALB/Route53/WAF, HA/DR and observability. Proven experience designing scalable multi-tenant microservices architectures, optimizing AWS infrastructure cost and performance, leading production incident RCA, defining NFRs/SLA/SLO, and creating HLD/LLD/architecture documentation. Should be capable of evaluating AWS/Azure/GCP services, mentoring engineers and presenting architecture decisions to technical and business stakeholders.

Role Overview:

Designs the Cloud architecture for SaaS Applications considering Scalability, Security, Cost and resilience. Ensure the availability of Platform as per defined SLA;. Owns the Architecture decisions and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Architecture: Design end-to-end cloud architecture for the SaaS platform (compute, networking, storage, DB, multi-tenancy model.
• Automation & IaC: Standardize environments through infra-as-code standards using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to eliminate manual configuration.
• CI/CD support: Support DevOps team to Optimize deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions for zero-downtime releases.
• Cost & Performance Optimization: Audit AWS usage to optimize spend and right-size resources without sacrificing performance.
• Incident Response & Security: Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for AWS Infrastructure related incidents.
• Security: Design security architecture IAM, network segmentation, encryption, compliance — SOC2/ISO27001/GDPR as applicable
• Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and document best practices.
• Additional responsibilities: Evaluate and select cloud services/vendors for new Applications (AWS/Azure/GCP, managed vs self-hosted)
• Own non-functional requirements: scalability, high availability, DR/BCP, latency, cost optimization
• Create capacity planning and cost-modeling for infra spend.

Required Skills:

• ● DevOps working knowledge will be an added advantage.
• AWS Expertise: Deep knowledge of EC2, EKS/ECS (Containers), RDS, Lambda, VPC, Route53, ALB, WAF, DR setup, IAM etc., working knowledge of GCP/Azure.
• Containerization: Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Monitoring: Hands-on experience with observability tools like Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, Dynatrace, AWS CloudWatch, etc.
• Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional is preferred choice. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate can also be considered based on expertise.
• Deployment: Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, multi-tenant SaaS architecture
• Ability to produce architecture diagrams, technical design docs, and present to stakeholders.
