Job summary

BuildxPartners in Bangalore South, India is seeking a Principal Technical Architect to lead platform architecture for scalable enterprise SaaS solutions. You will design and implement distributed, microservices-based systems with Java/Spring Boot, cloud-native patterns, and strong focus on security, performance, and multi-cloud portability.

You will collaborate with product, security, and operations teams to define architecture decisions, drive implementation, and ensure governance through ADRs.

Qualifications

• 14+ years in product engineering with experience designing scalable SaaS platforms.
• Expert in Java and Spring Boot enterprise development.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native design.
• Experience building microservices-based platforms.
• Strong REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven systems (Kafka).
• Performance tuning, scalability, caching, resiliency patterns.
• Cloud services such as Route 53, ALB/NLB, CloudFront, API Gateway, KMS, Secrets Manager, Organizations/Control Tower.
• Infrastructure as code and GitOps for containers/Kubernetes.
• Nice to have: Azure, GCP exposure for multi-cloud portability.
• Networking: multi-account VPC, hub-and-spoke, VPN, DNS, load balancing, CDN, WAF, PrivateLink, service mesh, zero-trust.
• Cloud security: IAM, encryption, tenant isolation, secrets management, threat modeling, OWASP/ASVS, secure SDLC, compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2, ISO27001).
• Cost and capacity: FinOps, tagging, discounts, capacity forecasting, load testing, autoscaling.
• Observability and reliability: OpenTelemetry, SLI/SLO, incident management, DR, multi-AZ/region.

Technical Skills

• 14+ years in product engineering, with strong experience designing and building scalable enterprise SaaS platforms.
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot based enterprise application development.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and cloud-native design principles.
• Proven experience designing and building microservices-based platforms.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven systems; Kafka or other streaming/event platforms.

• Network topology: multi-account and multi-VPC design, hub-and-spoke or Transit Gateway, hybrid connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect), DNS, load balancing, CDN and WAF, PrivateLink, service mesh, and zero-trust networking.
• Cloud and application security: IAM and least-privilege design, encryption and key management, tenant isolation, secrets management, threat modeling, OWASP/ASVS, secure SDLC tooling, and compliance in regulated settings (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
• Cost and capacity management: FinOps practices, unit-cost modeling, tagging and allocation, commitment-based discounts, capacity forecasting, load testing, and autoscaling design.
• Observability and reliability: logs, metrics, and traces with OpenTelemetry or equivalent; SLI/SLO and error-budget practices; DR and multi-AZ/multi-region design with defined RTO and RPO; incident management and chaos testing.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and related concepts.

Leadership & Execution

• Strong architectural decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to document and defend trade-offs (e.g., through architecture decision records).
