Job summary

Myntra is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Fashion Designer Apprentice for Men's & Women's Ethnic wear. 0–1 years of experience in the Indian ethnic market, translating traditional aesthetics into contemporary silhouettes.

This one-year apprenticeship focuses on textiles, artisanal crafts, and technical garment construction across both men and women’s lines.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of garment construction and textiles.
• Knowledge of Indian textiles, embroideries and trims.
• Awareness of current trends in Modern Ethnic/RTW segments.
• Ability to manage a design from concept to production-ready sample.

Responsibilities

• Design & Ideation: Develop mood boards and seasonal color stories; create 2D sketches and digital illustrations for Kurtas, Nehru jackets, Tunics, and Co-ord sets.
• Tech Packs: Generate comprehensive technical sheets with construction notes, measurements and finishing instructions.
• Fabric & Trim Sourcing: Identify fabrics and source trims that align with collection’s price point.
• Surface Development: Design prints and embroidery motifs for men’s and women’s styles.
• Sampling & Fit: Oversee sample development; lead fit sessions to ensure sizing and drape.
• Vendor Management: Coordinate with external units for printing, dyeing, and embroidery.

About Role

With 0–1 years of experience in the Indian ethnic market, you will be responsible for translating traditional aesthetics into contemporary silhouettes. This role requires a strong understanding of textiles, artisanal crafts, and the technical nuances of ethnic garment construction for both men and women.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design & Ideation: Develop mood boards and seasonal color stories. Create 2D sketches and digital illustrations for Kurtas, Nehru jackets, Tunics, and Co-ord sets.
• Tech Packs: Generate comprehensive technical sheets including detailed construction notes, measurements, and finishing instructions.
• Fabric & Trim Sourcing: Identify suitable fabrics (linens, silks, cotton blends) and source trims/buttons that align with the collection’s price point.
• Surface Development: Design original prints and minimal embroidery motifs (Aari, Threadwork, etc.) for men’s and women’s styles.
• Sampling & Fit: Oversee the sample development process. Lead fit sessions with master tailors to ensure precision in sizing and drape.
• Vendor Management: Coordinate with external units for printing, dyeing, and embroidery to ensure quality and timelines.

Qualifications & Experience

• Software: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Technical: Strong understanding of garment construction, Indian textiles, embroideries and trims.
• Market Insight: Knowledge of current trends in the "Modern Ethnic" and "Ready-to-Wear" segments.
• Execution: Ability to manage a design from initial concept to a production-ready gold sample.
