Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, draping, fabrics, embellishments, and textiles.
• 3+ years of design experience in men's ethnic wear
• A background with leading ethnic wear brands or couture fashion houses
• B.Des. in Fashion Design from NIFT (preferred)
• Strong digital sketching skills Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, or similar tools
• An eye for detail, craftsmanship, and an understanding of Indian occasion-wear trends.
• Strong vendor management, sourcing, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and develop seasonal ethnicwear collections across multiple categories.
• Create mood boards, trend forecasts, color palettes, and surface ornamentation concepts.
• Develop design specifications and oversee the execution of samples and prototypes.
• Execute pattern making, draping, and garment construction techniques during sampling.
• Coordinate with sampling units, artisans, and vendors to ensure timely prototypes and samples.
• Ensure designs align with brand identity, market trends, and customer preferences.
• Research, identify, and source fabrics, embellishments, trims, and accessories as per collection requirements.
• Collaborate with procurement and vendor partners to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely availability of materials.
• Travel within and outside Kolkata as required for sourcing and vendor development activities.
• Collaborate with stylists and photographers to execute brand-aligned photoshoots.
• Work with Production, Merchandising, Procurement, and Marketing for smooth handovers and launches.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

• Conceptualize and develop seasonal ethnicwear collections across multiple categories.
• Create mood boards, trend forecasts, color palettes, and surface ornamentation concepts.

• Execute pattern making, draping, and garment construction techniques during the sampling stage.
• Coordinate closely with sampling units, artisans, and vendors to ensure timely completion of prototypes and samples.
• Ensure designs align with brand identity, market trends, and customer preferences.

Fabric & Trims Sourcing

• Research, identify, and source suitable fabrics, embellishments, trims, and accessories as per collection requirements.
• Collaborate with procurement and vendor partners to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely availability of materials.
• Stay updated on market trends, fabric innovations, and sourcing opportunities.
• Travel within and outside Kolkata as required for sourcing and vendor development activities.

Photoshoot Coordination

• Collaborate with stylists, photographers, models, and the marketing team to execute brand-aligned photoshoots.
• Prepare shoot dockets, styling guidelines, and collection briefs.
• Ensure garments, accessories, and samples are shoot-ready and available as per schedule.
• Participate in creative direction discussions to maintain brand consistency across visual assets.

Cross-functional Coordination

• Work closely with Production, Merchandising, Procurement, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.
• Facilitate smooth handovers from design to production.
• Support departmental initiatives and undertake ad hoc projects as required.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination across all stakeholders.
