Overview

Job Description: Database Administrator (Oracle & DB2) – Azure Cloud

Location: Bengaluru

Experience: 3–6 years

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Oracle and DB2 databases, preferably on Azure Cloud. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day administration, ensure database availability, implement automation for patching/migrations, and contribute to overall database security and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

Administer and manage Oracle and DB2 databases hosted on Azure Cloud.
Apply fix packs, PSU/CPU, and security patches promptly to ensure compliance.
Automate redirect restores from production to integration environments.
Lead and execute database migrations from on-premises to Azure Cloud.
Define and implement processes for patching, upgrades, and maintenance plans.
Perform regular database maintenance activities such as REORG, RUNSTATs, statistics gathering, and performance tuning.
Monitor daily database operations, troubleshoot issues, and implement recommendations for smooth functioning.
Collaborate with Azure Advisors and security teams to address vulnerabilities and hardening requirements.
Participate in incident and outage calls, providing root cause analysis (RCA) and quick resolutions.
Develop and implement end-to-end backup and recovery solutions (RMAN, hot/cold backups, restore drills).
Utilize automation tools (Ansible, AWX, scripting) to streamline patching, upgrades, and environment refresh processes.

Required Skills & Experience

4–8 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with exposure to DB2 administration.
Strong hands-on with Oracle 11g/12c/19c, RMAN, Data Pump, ASM, RAC basics, patching, and cloning.
Working knowledge of DB2 fix packs, redirect restores, REORG, RUNSTATs.
Experience in Azure Cloud (IaaS): migrations, monitoring, patching, and security.
Proficiency in automation tools like Ansible, AWX, and shell scripting.
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Exposure to incident management processes and ability to handle production outages.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
