Job summary

EXL is seeking a Sr. Cloud DBA Specialist in India (Chennai or Noida) for a hybrid role with in-office Tue/Wed/Thu and remote Mon/Fri. The role balances Oracle and SQL Server administration across multi-tenant environments, with emphasis on performance, security, and automation.

You will work with DataBricks, Snowflake, Oracle APEX, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), while supporting production and non-production databases and driving data management best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 6-9 years as a DBA with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Linux administration.
• 50% workload focused on Oracle and 50% on SQL Server.
• 3+ years hands-on with DataBricks, Snowflake, Oracle APEX, AWS/Azure.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
• Install, configure, and monitor databases; ensure security and audit compliance.
• Tune SQL/PL/SQL performance; troubleshoot incidents within SLAs; automate tasks with Shell, PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, Perl.
• Design and implement data models, mirroring, and backup/recovery strategies.
• Automate processes using scripting languages (Shell, PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, Perl).
• Collaborate with application teams and vendors for database solutions and lifecycle management.
• Provide 24x7 support, including on-call rotation and weekend coverage.
• Stay current with cloud technologies and AI/GenAI advancements.

Position: Sr. Cloud DBA Specialist

Role Overview

The Sr. Cloud DBA Specialist is responsible for managing critical and non-production databases in multi-tenant environments, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, & compliance with SOX and PHI standards. This role demands strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.

Education/Work Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience Qualifications

• 6-9 years as a DBA with expertise in Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other RDBMS, along with Linux infrastructure management.
• Current Workload would be 50% Oracle, 50% SQL Server.
• 3+ years hands-on Administration experience with:
• DataBricks, Snowflake
• Oracle APEX
• AWS/AZURE

Key Responsibilities

• Support and manage Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.

Critical Skills (Must Haves)

• Hands-on Sr. DBA Administration experience with: Oracle (Single Instance/RAC, Multitenant, Active Data Guard), SQL Server (HA)
• PostgreSQL Administration is good to have.
• Expertise in RDBMS installations, patching, and upgrades
• Performance tuning in SQL and PL/SQL
• Experience managing large databases (>50 TB)
• Managing and upgrading Oracle APEX
• Cloud technologies Administration experience: AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks (Good to have)
• Tools: Datadog, NewRelic, Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c+, Toad
• Strong Linux administration and scripting skills
• Knowledge and experience with AI/GenAI technologies (e.g., AI-driven automation, predictive analytics, database optimization using AI)
• Ability to leverage GenAI for operational efficiency, such as automating repetitive DBA tasks and enhancing DevOps pipelines.
• Exposure to AI in cloud ecosystems (AWS AI services, Azure Cognitive Services) for advanced database management.
• Knowledge of MongoDB and other RDBMS (Good to have )
• Compliance and audit support experience & Able to Collaborate with development and product teams
• Experience in Digital Marketing/Healthcare Products Preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
