Associate Vice President

Tomorrow Capital – Mumbai – Operating Role – Venture Capital

About Tomorrow Capital:

Tomorrow Capital, a $100 Mn operating fund, exists to help stellar early-stage entrepreneurs with strong and differentiated business models to build transformative and sustainable businesses around consumption themes of the future.

We aim to be the go-to fund for entrepreneurs who want assurance of success for their businesses, by helping them with long-term patient capital, hands‑on operational support and the ability to think and operate at scale.

The above philosophy creates fundamentally strong businesses with a very high probability of success and returns on exit, and it is also what makes this one of the sharpest learning environments in the Indian venture capital ecosystem.

To understand how we add value to our portfolio companies, visit us tomorrowcapital.in/companies.

The Role:

An opportunity to become a part of one of India’s most differentiated consumer investment funds and get hands‑on experience of independently leading portfolio company growth.

We are looking for an operator who will manage 2 – 3 portfolio companies at a time and be responsible for the entire lifecycle of these investments. You will work almost like a co‑founder in the portfolio companies (on behalf of the fund), with heavy hands‑on operational and strategic involvement, being close to the decisions that actually determine how a business scales. In addition, you shall have the opportunity to evaluate investible opportunities and lead transactions end to end.

Ideally, the candidate should have the ability to combine the instincts of a builder with the detachment of an operator assessing the business in full.

What The Operating Exposure Gives You:
  • The complete arc of an investment: Research and build‑out of knowledge base and a fund view on sectors of interest, Sourcing of new opportunities, evaluation of new investment opportunities in our sectors of interest, diligence, Championing of identified deals through the investment committee, entry, scaling, governance and exit. Very few roles let one person see all of it, repeatedly, within a few years.
  • Company building from the inside: Work directly with management teams and boards and learn how institutional capital gets to work. Opportunity to get your hands dirty with founders on Go‑to‑market strategies, unit economics, hiring, org design and capital allocation, and carry the outcome of those calls, defining and implementing systems and processes to improve the scalability and value‑add of the portfolio and eventually, the fund.
  • Pattern recognition across sectors: Our portfolio spans healthcare, consumer, education and financial services, so you learn what transfers across models and what does not.
  • Capital and structuring fluency with early exposure to board and governance. Term sheets, rounds, secondaries and exit structuring, learnt on live transactions with senior cover.
  • A founder grade network. Active participation in the start‑up community, develop a robust ecosystem of peer VCs/PEs, CEOs, board candidates, bankers, built through work rather than through events.
Who We Are Looking For:
  • MBA from a Tier 1 institute with min eight years of experience, preferably in business and operating roles
  • Venture capital experience preferred (in operating roles), with a live network and a track record of sourcing opportunities
  • Alternatively, a former founder of a funded startup, or someone who has led a category or vertical in a consumer business and scaled it past INR 100 Cr over five to six years
  • Deep expertise in 1 – 2 key functions (Product / Technology / Operations / Distribution / Sales / Marketing)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with high ownership and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment to plan and manage a variety of projects
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and demonstrate creativity and intellectual flexibility in an uncertain and rapidly changing environment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Strong networks in the start‑up and corporate communities
  • Ability to leverage and seamlessly integrate AI solutions in daily work and investee company growth
Compensation:

In line with top Indian investment funds, with meaningful upside linked to portfolio performance and exit outcomes.
