Job description

The Senior Software Developer leads higher-complexity work within HR Transformation & Analytics, owning major deliverables, improving delivery quality, and translating business, data, technology, product, or process needs into reliable outcomes. This role operates with greater independence than the unprefixed level and is expected to lead workstreams, resolve ambiguity, mentor peers, and manage stakeholder expectations across HR, analytics, technology, operations, and transformation partners.

The Software Developer supports HR Transformation & Analytics by designing, building, testing, and maintaining software solutions, internal tools, integrations, automations, APIs, and digital capabilities that improve HR processes and analytics enablement. This role partners with product owners, business analysts, DevOps engineers, data teams, QA partners, and HR stakeholders to deliver secure and maintainable solutions.

The role is responsible for application development, code quality, technical documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvement of assigned software components. Success requires engineering fundamentals , collaboration, secure development practices, and responsible use of AI-assisted coding tools.

Responsibilities:

Senior-Level Ownership & Delivery Leadership

• Lead complex deliverables, workstreams, analyses, designs, builds, or implementation activities with limited oversight.
• Translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into clear scope, success measures, requirements, plans, technical outputs, or recommendations.
• Review deliverables for accuracy, usability, governance alignment, stakeholder readiness, and business value before release or handoff.
• Mentor less experienced team members by sharing standards, reviewing work, and reinforcing documentation, testing, and delivery discipline.
• Identify delivery risks, data or process limitations, technical dependencies, and stakeholder alignment issues early and recommend practical mitigation actions.

Software Development & Maintenance

• Develop, test, debug, and maintain software components, scripts, APIs, automations, or internal applications for HR Transformation & Analytics use cases.
• Translate user stories and technical requirements into working software according to coding standards and architecture guidance.
• Support enhancements, defect fixes, performance improvements, and production support for assigned applications or services.

Testing, Documentation & Quality

• Write or support unit tests, integration tests, technical documentation, code comments, and implementation notes.
• Participate in code reviews, defect triage, release preparation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Follow secure coding, version control, deployment, accessibility, and maintainability standards.

Stakeholder & Engineering Partnership

• Partner with business analysts, product owners, UX/visualization partners, data teams, and DevOps engineers to clarify requirements and dependencies.
• Communicate development progress, risks, assumptions, and technical constraints clearly.
• Contribute to reusable patterns, shared components, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

AI-Assisted Development

• Use approved AI coding tools to draft code patterns, tests, documentation, refactoring ideas, and troubleshooting steps while validating outputs before use.
• Review AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, licensing concerns, and alignment to internal standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity and solution quality through responsible AI-assisted engineering workflows.

AI Preparedness Expectations:

• Applies approved AI tools to accelerate complex deliverables, documentation, quality review, analysis, code, design, workflow support, or stakeholder materials while validating outputs before use.
• Identifies appropriate AI augmentation opportunities within assigned workstreams and helps teammates adopt safe, practical, and repeatable AI-enabled practices.
• Reviews AI-assisted outputs for accuracy, bias, completeness, privacy risk, governance alignment, and business context before release or recommendation.
• Builds deeper capability in AI-enabled HR analytics, workflow automation, decision support, and human-in-the-loop review over the next three years.
• Uses AI to accelerate code drafts, test generation, documentation, and troubleshooting while retaining accountability for quality and security.
• Understands AI-generated code risks including defects, insecure patterns, licensing concerns, and unsupported assumptions.
• Builds capability in AI-assisted engineering, secure development, automation, software reliability, and intelligent HR products over the next three years.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Business , Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Typically 3+ years of experience in a related environment.
• Experience leading a defined workstream, analysis, product, technical deliverable, process improvement, reporting solution, or change initiative with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience reviewing deliverables, validating outputs, managing dependencies, and communicating risks or recommendations to managers, senior managers, or directors.
• Experience mentoring others, improving team standards, or contributing to repeatable methods, documentation, templates, or quality practices.
• Experience developing software, scripts, APIs, workflow automations, web applications, internal tools, or system integrations.
• Experience using version control, testing practices, debugging methods, and basic software development lifecycle practices.
