Job summary

ZF in Hyderabad, India, seeks a AM-VAVE Breaking Specialist to drive cost reduction across electronic/mechanical components. You will lead design-to-cost initiatives, analyze BOM costs, and coordinate cross-functional reviews with engineering, sourcing, and validation teams.

The role requires deep technical understanding, at least 5 years design experience, and strong ability to influence without authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with understanding of electronic/mechanical components.
• At least 5 years of design engineering experience in electronics/products.
• Experience in cost reduction via design improvements is desirable.
• Willingness to lead teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Drive design changes or supplier substitutions to reduce BOM cost.
• Facilitate cross-functional workshops to generate cost-reduction ideas.
• Lead technical discussions and cross-functional project meetings.
• Plan timing with Test and Validation to validate cost-reduction ideas.
• Present cost reduction ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide reports on status, savings targets, and workshop planning.
• Negotiate cost delta for engineering changes.
• Visit suppliers to analyze manufacturing costs.

What you can look forward to as AM-VAVE Breaking Specialist:

• Increases profitability by driving design changes or substituting suppliers reducing overall BOM cost;
• Facilitate cross functional workshops to develop cost reduction ideas;
• Drive design changes through engineering systems using established engineering processes (e.g. SRC, CCB and CRB).
• Lead technical discussions and cross-functional project meetings;
• Work with the Test and Validation group to plan and maintain timing to validate the cost-reduction ideas;
• Present cost reduction ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support Design to Cost by generating design alternatives to achieve product cost targets;
• Provide relevant reporting for cost decisions (status reports of ongoing activities, progress towards savings target implementation, and forward workshop planning).
• Negotiating cost delta for any engineering change.
• Visit suppliers (global locations) to analyze their manufacturing process/materials/tooling costs;
• Program management role or product management role, which can offer some other skills not just from engineering.
• The VMT position will require a lot of early engagement and people influencing capability.

Your profile as AM-VAVE Breaking Specialist

• Bachelors degree in electrical/mechanical engineering with general technical understanding of Electronic/Mechanical components is required;
• Min. 5 years of previous design engineering experience within electronics and electronics related products (Power module, ECU design);
• Previous cost reduction by design improvement experience is desired;
• Flexible, open minded, self-motivated and with an ability to lead teams without direct authority
