Job summary

Gramik is seeking an experienced Agronomist to support farmers with science-based crop advice, aiming to boost productivity and strengthen agricultural operations. You will collaborate with farmers, FPOs, field teams, agri-input partners, and other stakeholders.

The role requires deep knowledge of local crops, soils, pests, and inputs, with fluency in Haryanvi and Hindi. Travel to rural sites and field engagement are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or higher in Agriculture or related field; MS/BS equivalents accepted.
  • 1–5 years of experience in agronomy, crop advisory, or field operations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of crops grown in Haryana; soil, irrigation, fertilizer and pest management understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crop-specific agronomy advisory from sowing to harvest.
  • Conduct regular farm visits and understand crop-related challenges.
  • Guide seed selection, sowing, fertilizer, irrigation and nutrition practices.
  • Identify and provide solutions for pests, diseases, weeds and crop issues.
  • Conduct soil and crop assessments and recommend corrective measures.
  • Promote best practices to improve productivity and quality.
  • Conduct farmer meetings, trainings, demonstrations, and awareness programs.
  • Collaborate with field sales and operations teams for farmer engagement.
  • Support trials and demonstrations of seeds, fertilizers, and crop protection products.
  • Collect field data on acreage, production, health, issues, and market trends.
  • Prepare agronomy and farmer feedback reports and field visit updates.
  • Build strong relationships with farmers and act as trusted advisor in the region.
  • Stay updated with new agri-technologies, schemes and market developments.

Mandatory Requirement

Candidate must be fluent in Haryanvi language and comfortable communicating with farmers in local dialect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with agri-input companies, experts, and other agriculture ecosystem partners whenever required.
Required Qualifications
  • B.Sc. Agriculture / M.Sc. Agriculture / B.Tech Agriculture or equivalent qualification.
  • 1–5 years of experience in agronomy, crop advisory, farmer engagement, or agricultural field operations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of crops commonly grown in Haryana.
  • Good understanding of soil health, fertilizers, irrigation, pest management, and crop protection.
  • Experience in working directly with farmers will be preferred.
  • Comfortable with extensive field travel.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong practical knowledge of agronomy and crop management.
  • Excellent farmer communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Fluency in Haryanvi is mandatory.
  • Hindi proficiency is mandatory; basic English communication will be preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose crop-related problems during field visits.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, mobile applications, and basic digital reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of Excel and reporting will be an added advantage.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently in rural and field environments.
