Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a senior logistics professional to lead end-to-end logistics operations for its precast factory in Mumbai. The role involves coordinating production, planning, transporters, and site teams to ensure timely material flow, safety, and project schedule adherence.

The candidate will oversee planning, fleet management, dispatch, inventory control, and compliance with regulatory requirements, contributing to cost-effective and efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in any field.
• 10–15 years of experience in logistics, transportation or supply chain operations.
• Experience in precast concrete manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, or large-scale real estate projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Logistics Planning & Execution: Develop and implement logistics plans for transportation and delivery of precast elements.
• Transportation & Fleet Management: Manage transportation vendors, fleet availability, and deployment of vehicles for oversized elements.
• Precast Material Handling & Dispatch: Coordinate with production and yard teams for stacking, storage, and dispatch of precast elements.
• Inventory & Yard Management: Monitor movement of precast elements in the factory yard and optimize space usage.
• Safety, Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with EHS standards during loading, unloading, storage, and transportation.

SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

To lead and manage end-to-end logistics operations for the precast factory, ensuring the timely, safe, and cost-effective movement of raw materials, precast elements, equipment, and finished products from the manufacturing facility to project sites. The role involves coordinating with production, planning, project execution, transporters, and site teams to ensure seamless material flow and adherence to project schedules.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

Logistics Planning & Execution

• Develop and implement logistics plans for the transportation and delivery of precast elements to various project sites.
• Coordinate dispatch schedules with production, planning, and project execution teams based on project requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of precast components, including beams, columns, slabs, wall panels, and other structural elements.
• Monitor vehicle deployment, route planning, loading sequences, and unloading arrangements at project sites.

Transportation & Fleet Management

• Manage transportation vendors, fleet availability, and deployment of suitable vehicles, trailers, and specialized equipment for oversized and heavy precast elements.
• Negotiate transportation rates and monitor freight costs to optimize logistics expenditure.
• Ensure compliance with road transport regulations, route permits, load limits, and other statutory requirements.
• Monitor vehicle utilization, turnaround time, delivery performance, and transporter service levels.

Precast Material Handling & Dispatch

• Coordinate with production and yard teams for proper stacking, storage, identification, and dispatch of precast elements.
• Ensure appropriate loading, securing, lifting, and transportation arrangements to prevent damage during transit.
• Coordinate with site teams regarding crane availability, unloading arrangements, access roads, and storage space.
• Maintain dispatch documentation, delivery challans, e-way bills, gate passes, and proof of delivery, as applicable.

Inventory & Yard Management

• Monitor the movement and availability of precast elements in the factory yard.
• Ensure systematic yard planning, material traceability, and efficient utilization of storage space.
• Coordinate with production and project teams to minimize material accumulation, delays, and unnecessary handling.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatched, in-transit, and delivered materials.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with EHS standards during loading, unloading, storage, and transportation activities.
• Ensure proper use of lifting tackles, restraints, and protective arrangements for precast components.
• Coordinate with the Safety and Quality teams to minimize transit damage, accidents, and material losses.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable statutory requirements.
