  • Experience in procurement of scrap and alloys in engineering/manufacturing/steel industries
  • Exposure to Quality Management Systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee supply chain management and contract manufacturers activities
  • Procure metals (nickel, chrome, titanium, alloys) with relevant experience
  • Manage supplier selections to meet quality, service, delivery and cost goals
  • Ensure just-in-time delivery of materials to meet customer demand
  • Formulate and manage end-to-end distribution processes from ordering to delivery
  • Lead inventory optimization and replenishment strategies
  • Collaborate with production, sales, finance and external suppliers
  • Apply continuous improvement tools to streamline efficiency of supply chain
  • Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers
  • Lead transformation of the supply chain to meet business demands
  • Review margins, freight, and duties
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems

Job description

Role & responsibilities
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Supply Chain Management, Contract Manufacturers activities
  • Should have procured metals like Nickel, Chrome, Titanium, Alloys etc (must have experience)
  • Should have exposure of sale of scrap, by proper bidding process.
  • Effectively manage supplier selections to meet quality, service, delivery, and cost parameters to meet the organisation requirements.
  • Ensure just-intime delivery of material to meet customer demand.
  • To formulate and manage the entire process of distribution from ordering to receiving and preparation to delivery.
  • Lead inventory right sizing initiatives.
  • Maintain systems to ensure inventory optimization and appropriate replenishment strategies.
  • Collaborate with production and operations departments in planning activities to deliver products on time.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing and Finance and externally with all the suppliers and service providers.
  • Apply necessary continuous improvement tools to streamline efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain activities.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, and production to establish corrective actions regarding supplier/vendor related issues.
  • Negotiating commercial terms with suppliers
  • Lead the transformation of the Supply Chain operation in line with or ahead of the demands of our businesses.
  • Reviewing and improving margins freight and duty
  • Should have exposure to Quality Management Systems
Preferred candidate profile

The ideal candidate is an engineering graduate with a post-graduate qualification in Operations or Supply Chain Management and 15 -20 years experience including at least 10 years at a managerial level with responsibility for managing Supply Chain & Purchase function at plant level. The candidate should be from engineering or manufacturing industries, or steel plant having managed procurement of scrap and alloys.

The candidate will need to show leadership ability to drive transformational cultural change to enable the business to deliver operational efficiency.
