Job summary

USV near Chiplun, Maharashtra, seeks a Site EHS Head (AGM/DGM) to lead legal compliance, safety, and process safety at a USFDA API manufacturing site. The role reports to Senior VP Plant Operations with dotted line to Corporate EHS, overseeing MPCB permits, audits, CAPAs and EHS documentation.

You will drive risk assessments, incident investigations, and external audits, implement life-saving rules, manage OPEX/CAPEX budgets, and push energy conservation and waste reduction initiatives while

Responsibilities

• Legal compliance: ensure valid CTE/CTO and hazardous waste authorization; manage returns/reports to MPCB, MoEF, Fire Dept; ensure licenses/permits are complied with.
• Safety: implement EHS policies, life saving rules; conduct inspections, CAPA, incident investigations; ensure safety equipment and emergency systems are functional.
• Audit compliance: coordinate internal/external safety audits; track CAPA closures; support ISO audits and external inspections.
• Budget: monitor EHS Opex & Capex; control costs against approved budgets.
• Innovations: engineering controls to prevent injuries/fires; pursue energy conservation, water neutrality, green energy, waste reduction.
• CEHS guidelines: implement CEHS directives; update EHS data in software; prepare PPTs for quarterly reviews; escalate unresolved risks.

Job Location : Lote near Chiplun in Ratnagiri District, Maharashtra

Position reports to : Senior VP - Plant Operations & Dotted line reporting to VP - Corporate EHS

Job Description:

1. Legal Compliance

• Responsible for ensuring valid CTE, CTO and Hazardous waste authorization from MPCB.
• Submission of returns, reports, response to notices etc. related to PCB, MoEF, Fire Dept. etc.
• Ensuring condition wise compliance to all conditions mentioned in Consent / License / Permit / Authorization.
• Escalate non-compliance and potential gaps to site head and CEHS Head.
• Responsible for full filling all requirements as mentioned in Comply Global software and comply with requirements as prescribed.

2. General Safety and Process safety

• Monitor all applicable EHS management activities to ensure adherence to set standards and take corrective measures in case of non-conformance.
• Implementation of USV EHS policy and Life Saving Rules.
• Recommend action to built safety systems to handle all operations safely and ensure safety by design.
• Ensure compliance to system and take corrective action in case of non-adherence.
• Conducting EHS inspection in all work places and ensure implementation of CAPA.
• Learning Incidents (Near Miss Reporting), identification of unsafe acts and conditions as per monthly site target.
• Investigation of injuries & incidents and implementation of CAPAs with the help of site HODs.
• Preparation and updating of all relevant documentation time to time.
• Ensure availability and functionality of all safety equipment.
• Ensuring all emergency systems and equipment are in good working condition.
• Implementation of all EHS procedures and policies.
• Report incident through EHS software including incident investigation.
• Encouraging reporting of Near Miss incidents, unsafe acts/ conditions as per monthly site target.
• Responsible for Operation of ETP as per design parameters and ensure PCB conditions.
• Conducting need based to all employees and contract workers.
• Conduct / re visit risk assessments for identification and elimination/ control of risks.
• Prevention of chemical exposure to employees and Safe handling of high potent drugs.
• Coordinate/ensure external audits like Safety, Electrical, HAC, ESD, Hygiene etc.
• Ensure OEL reports for all APIs, MSDS for all API and chemicals handled in the site.
• Ensure powder safety parameters are in place for all API products.
• Checking of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) of EHS department, EHS Site manual, EHS Procedure, EHS Manual & ISO documents.
• Prepared Onsite Emergency Plan and conduct Mock drills.
• Conducting Safety committee meetings & Management review meetings.
• Conducting walkthrough survey, inspections and internal audits.

3. Audit compliance

• All unresolved risks and long pending action plans to be escalated to site head and CEHS head at least once in 15 days.
• Conduct internal and external safety audits in the plant in collaboration with team, other departments and external agencies.
• Tracking of all EHS CAPAs implementations and elevate long pending to site head and CEHS.
• Oversee co-ordination for Customer/ISO audits to provide relevant data and ensure implementation
• Compliance CAPA closure related Legal inspections, Safety Inspections, walk through,
• External & Global audits, Safety committee meetings, and Risk Assessment / Hazop studies.

4. Budgetary Planning and control

5. Overall responsible for Site EHS Opex & Capex budget monitoring

• Monitor costs periodically and take actions to address non adherence to approved budgets, if any.

6. Innovations

• Providing Engineering control for prevention of injuries/fires/property loss.
• Implementation of new technology for reducing impact on Environment like Energy Conservation, Water neutral, Green energies, waste reduction etc.

7. Implementation of guidelines advised by CEHS

• Implementation of guidelines and advises given by CEHS.
• Updating data and information as prescribed in EHS software.
• Participating in weekly calls and implementation of guidance given by CEHS time to time.
