Job summary

Zensar Technologies is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems. You will work on Java-based microservices, API design, and cloud-native solutions on AWS, while mentoring juniors and collaborating with product, frontend, and DevOps teams.

You will drive architectural decisions, ensure security and performance, and contribute to enterprise-grade applications across distributed services, data stores, and event-driven architectures.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java (Java 11/17+), Spring ecosystem.
• Experience with Microservices architecture and API design.
• Proficiency with AWS cloud services and Kafka-based event-driven solutions.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases; CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Secure coding and performance tuning principles.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java, Microservices Architecture, API Design & Development, AWS Cloud Services, and Kafka-based event-driven solutions. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can drive technical design decisions, contribute to architecture discussions, mentor junior developers, and collaborate closely with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to deliver robust enterprise-grade applications.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

API Design & Development

• Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable RESTful APIs.
• Define API standards, governance, versioning, and best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical API solutions.
• Develop API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Optimize API performance, reliability, and security.

Backend Development

• Design and implement backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain microservices-based architectures.
• Develop reusable, testable, and efficient code following industry best practices.
• Perform code reviews and ensure high coding standards.

Cloud & Distributed Systems

• Design and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Work with AWS services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM.
• Implement scalable and resilient distributed systems.

Event-Driven Architecture

• Design and develop Kafka-based integration solutions.
• Build event-driven microservices for asynchronous processing.
• Monitor and optimize Kafka producers, consumers, and topics.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
• Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision-making.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, QA, and DevOps teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and adoption of engineering best practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java (Java 11/17+).
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and related frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Microservices Architecture and design patterns.
• Proven experience in API Design and Development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of system scalability, performance tuning, and security best practices.
• Proficiency with GitHub and modern source control workflows.
