Job summary

Cyient Limited in Hyderabad seeks a Design Engineer for aero structures who will lead the detailed design of wing skins, empennage, and fuselage components in both composite and metallic forms using CATIA. You will join a multidisciplinary team to develop products through design, drawing, and model stages, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering; 4–8 years in design of composite/metal components.

Responsibilities

• Wing, empennage, fuselage aero structures design and development, with production support.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team with analysis, manufacturing, cost, and tooling engineers.
• Translate detailed designs into product drawings/models across all programme phases.
• Integrate requirements from other disciplines for cost-effective, producible designs.
• Propose design solutions balancing cost, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and performance.
• Prepare drawings and BOM data for manufacturing and customer submittals.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, customers and suppliers.
• Maintain BOM updates and write Engineering Change Notes (ECN).
• Exposure to aero structures MRB/concessions on metallic & composite parts is a plus.

Qualification & Skills

Degree level or equivalent in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 4 to 8 years of experience in Design of Composite and/or metallic components.

Essential skills:

• Excellent knowledge of Aerospace Primary and Secondary structures - Wings, Fuselage, Empennage
• Design of sandwich panels and monolithic composite parts, specifically wing skins, using CATIA Part Design workbench.
• CATIA Generate Shape Design (GSD) workbench.
• CATIA Model Based Definition (FTA workbench).
• Windchill workgroup manager (PLM system), Teamcenter experience.
• The Design Engineer will develop, integrate and implement technical solutions for some of our high-profile programmes of work.
• Ensure designs are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements and internal standards within the programme, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
• Have a shared responsibility in the design of structural aircraft and helicopter components, identifying technical problems and creating technical solutions.
• Work with both metal and composite structures and different assembly techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wing, Empennage Fuselage Aero structures detailed design & development and support production requirements where necessary.
• The design engineer will be part of a multidisciplinary team together with analysis engineers, manufacturing engineers, cost engineers and tooling engineers.
• Working in all phases of a programme, starting with the conceptual phase, the full-scale phase in which the detailed design is translated into product drawings/ models, up to the product maturation phase assisting with problems during manufacturing and proposing changes to the detailed design in order to contribute to weight and cost savings.
• Work on the integration of all requirements and input from other engineering disciplines into the conceptual and detailed design, such that the product definition can be made and a cost-efficient and producible design is achieved.
• Propose design solutions, based on the correct balance of cost, quality, manufacturability, serviceability and performance.
• Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product and data submittal to the customer.
• To communicate effectively with co-worker, customer and suppliers
• Configuration services, BOM creation using codified components.
• Modelling, simulation and prototyping services knowledge
• Design or amendment of Components, Products to a specification.
• Design for cost/manufacture services.
• Produce layout drawings and or detailed and accurate drawings
• Propose Delivery and installation strategies, installation designs (red/green drawings), mod packs for installing hardware products onto platforms.
• Perform basic design changes (Notes, standard parts in models etc.) in metallic detail parts and assemblies within CATIA.
• Update the Bill of Materials (BOM) and write the Engineering Change Note (ECN)
• Exposure and knowledge of aero structures MRB/concessions on metallic & composite parts will be an advantage

Roles and Responsibilities

Degree level or equivalent in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Design of Composite and/or metallic components. Checking experience / check signatory will add weightage to the profile.
