Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services seeks a Technical Head - Aerospace Mechanical PD with extensive experience in aircraft design across structures, interiors and aerosystems. You will lead large engineering teams and drive design reviews, product lifecycle, and certification readiness.

Role requires hands-on expertise in CATIA/NX, FEA, weight optimization, and compliance with FAA/EASA regulations. Strong mentoring and cross-functional collaboration are essential to deliver complex aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in design & development of aircraft from nose to tail, covering structures, interiors and aerosystems.
• 20 years of experience in aerospace engineering.
• End-to-end mechanical design across fuselage, wing, empennage, interfaces and interiors.
• Hands-on in interiors design, seats, panels and certification constraints.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling with CATIA/NX, GD&T and tolerances.
• Knowledge of airworthiness, certification, and regulatory compliance (FAA/EASA).
• Experience in configuration management, change control and PLM processes.
• Able to lead design reviews and cross-functional engineering decisions.

Job description

Role: Technical Head - Aerospace Mechanical PD

Required Technical Skill Set

Experience in Design & Development of Aircraft - Nose to Tail covering Structures, Interiors & Aerosystems. Sound knowledge of product development across design lifecycle is a must.

Experience: 20 years

• Deep experience in end-to-end aircraft mechanical design and development across fuselage, wing, empennage, landing gear interfaces, cabins/interiors, and aerosystems installation.
• Strong expertise in primary and secondary structures design, metallic and composite structures, stress-informed design, and structural integration.
• Hands-on capability in aircraft interiors design including monuments, bins, panels, seats integration, safety, packaging, ergonomics, and certification constraints.
• Solid understanding of aerosystems packaging and installation covering ECS, fuel, hydraulics, pneumatics, landing gear systems, and associated mechanical interfaces.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing release using aerospace design tools such as CATIA / NX, with strong command of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
• Sound experience in engineering analysis, FEA-led design validation, weight optimization, design-for-manufacture, design-for-assembly, and producibility.
• Strong understanding of airworthiness, certification, and compliance requirements with exposure to FAA/EASA regulations, qualification, verification, and validation processes.
• Experience in configuration management, change control, product lifecycle management, and engineering release processes across the aircraft development lifecycle.
• Ability to lead design reviews, root-cause resolution, cross-functional technical decisions, and customer-facing engineering discussions for complex development programs.
• Strong mentoring, solutioning, and program leadership capability to guide large engineering teams across concept, detailed design, testing, certification, and in-service support.
