Job description

Position Summary

Aerospace Structural Design Engineer with experience in the design and development of primary and secondary airframe structures, as well as various aircraft subsystems, for both composite and metallic aircraft assemblies. Skilled in 3D CAD modeling, detailed design development, and 2D drawing creation in compliance with aerospace standards and GD&T principles. Adept at cross-functional collaboration with Structural analysis, aerodynamics, Manufacturing, and Systems teams for design integration and optimization. Experienced in configuration management and engineering change processes including SQN, PQN, ECR, and ECN to maintain product integrity across the lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design primary and secondary airframe structures, including associated interface and attachment components in both composite and metallic materials
  • Develop, iterate, and modify detailed part and assembly definitions for complete aircraft structures using multiple design workbenches (Part Design, Surface Design, Assembly Design, and Composite Part Design)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including aerodynamic, Structural analysis, Methods & Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to support design iterations, finalization, fabrication, and assembly activities
  • Create and release detailed 2D engineering drawings for parts, assemblies, and installations (composite and metallic), ensuring compliance with ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, and ASME Y14.37 standards
  • Develop and validate 3D Functional Tolerancing & Annotation (FT&A) models by applying GD&T, datum structures, and Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) in accordance with design, manufacturing, and inspection requirements
  • Support integration of components and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) across systems including Power train, Propulsion, Battery, Avionics, and Autonomy teams
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness and certification requirements throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Participate in design reviews, audits, and certification activities, providing technical inputs and design justification
  • Investigate design issues and integration conflicts, and implement corrective actions in coordination with relevant stakeholders
  • Support development of NMGs, CFD models, wind tunnel geometries, and zero-thickness preliminary design models, primarily for stress and aerodynamic evaluation during early aircraft development phases
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis on aircraft structural assemblies to assess fit, form, and functional requirements, ensuring manufacturability, assembly feasibility, and design robustness
  • Manage and resolve Supplier Query Notes (SQN), Production Query Notes (PQN), Engineering Change Requests (ECR), and Engineering Change Notes (ECN), working closely with configuration control and change management teams to maintain design integrity and traceability
