Designation: Accounts & Internal Audit Manager
Department: Finance & Accounts

Job Purpose

The Accounts & Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for managing accounting operations, financial controls, internal audits, statutory compliance coordination, MIS reporting, project billing verification, and ensuring effective financial processes across the organization.

The role requires strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, internal controls, audit procedures, and financial analysis, with the ability to identify risks, prevent financial irregularities, and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts & Finance Management
  • Supervise day-to-day accounting activities and ensure accurate and timely accounting entries.
  • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, receipts, payments, journal entries, and bank transactions.
  • Monitor vendor/customer ledgers and conduct periodic reconciliation.
  • Review bank, cash, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper documentation and authorization for financial transactions.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and payables.
2. Internal Audit
  • Develop and implement an annual/monthly internal audit plan.
  • Conduct periodic audits of accounts, projects, procurement, stores, payroll, expenses, and operational transactions.
  • Verify supporting documents, approvals, invoices, purchase orders, work orders, and payment records.
  • Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Detect accounting errors, control weaknesses, duplicate payments, unauthorized expenses, and irregular transactions.
  • Prepare detailed Internal Audit Reports with observations, risk levels, and corrective actions.
  • Follow up with departments to ensure closure of audit observations.
3. Project Accounts & Billing Audit
  • Review project-wise revenue, expenses, budgets, and profitability.
  • Verify client billing, RA bills, invoices, deductions, retention, advances, and recoveries.
  • Check project expenditure against approved budgets and work orders.
  • Review subcontractor/vendor bills and supporting documents.
  • Reconcile project billing with contract terms and work progress.
  • Monitor project-wise receivables and outstanding payments.
  • Identify project cost overruns and financial leakages.
4. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
  • Ensure timely coordination for GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, and other applicable statutory requirements.
  • Review GST input/output reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
  • Verify TDS deductions and reconciliation with relevant records.
  • Coordinate with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and external auditors.
  • Maintain proper documentation for statutory audits and assessments.
5. Financial Controls & Process Improvement
  • Establish and strengthen internal financial controls.
  • Review approval and authorization systems.
  • Implement segregation of duties wherever required.
  • Develop SOPs for accounting, procurement, billing, payments, and expense management.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend corrective measures.
  • Introduce automation and system-based controls to reduce manual errors.
6. MIS & Management Reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial and management reports.
  • Provide project-wise and department-wise financial analysis.
  • Prepare:
    • Profit & Loss reports
    • Cash-flow reports
    • Receivables & Payables reports
    • Project profitability reports
    • Budget vs. Actual reports
    • Expense analysis
    • Audit observation reports
  • Present key financial risks and exceptions to management.
7. Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments.
  • Monitor unusual or high-value transactions.
  • Review adherence to delegation of authority and approval limits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and business information.
  • Report significant financial risks or irregularities to senior management immediately.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CA / CMA / MBA Finance qualification will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and auditing principles.
  • Working knowledge of Indian taxation and statutory compliance.
Experience
  • 510 years of relevant experience in Accounts, Finance, Internal Audit, or Project Finance.
  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, EPC, HVAC, MEP, engineering, or project-based organizations is preferred.
  • Previous experience in managing accounting teams and internal audits will be an advantage.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Tally / ERP / Accounting Software.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, dashboards, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance.
  • Internal audit and financial control procedures.
  • Project accounting and billing.
  • MIS and management reporting.
  • Budgeting and variance analysis.

Authority & Accountability

The Accounts & Internal Audit Manager will be accountable for ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded, supported, authorized, and compliant with company policies and applicable laws.

The position will have the authority to seek financial records and supporting documents from relevant departments and elevate significant financial discrepancies, control failures, or compliance issues to senior management.
