Job summary

EXL is seeking a highly experienced Appian Technical Architect to lead architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise BPM solutions using Appian. You will set technical direction, ensure best practices, and deliver scalable Appian applications aligned with business goals.

The role requires guiding developers, collaborating with stakeholders, and driving end-to-end Appian implementation including data/process modeling, UI/UX, and integrations.

Qualifications

• 10–12+ years in IT, with at least 8+ years as Appian Architect/Lead.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise Appian BPM solutions.
• Strong collaboration with stakeholders and development teams.
• Appian Lead Developer (L3) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Description:Highly experienced and innovative Appian Technical Architect to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-level business process management (BPM) solutions using Appian.The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting technical direction, ensuring design best practices, and delivering scalable and robust Appian applications. This role will closely collaborate with business stakeholders, development teams, and project managers to transform business requirements into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define overall Appian solution architecture and establish standards for design and development.
• Lead the end-to-end design of Appian applications, including data modeling, process modeling, and UI/UX design.
• Translate business requirements into well-architected Appian applications that align with enterprise goals.
• Evaluate technical feasibility, integration needs, and performance/scalability factors.
• Provide hands-on guidance to developers and ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to standards.
• Integrate Appian with external systems using APIs, web services (REST/SOAP), RDBMS, and other middleware tools.
• Conduct architecture reviews, technical assessments, and proof-of-concepts.
• Mentor junior developers and conduct training sessions as needed.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to plan deployments, security, scalability, and compliance.
• Troubleshoot performance and functional issues in Appian applications.
• Stay updated on Appian releases, capabilities, and industry trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 - 12 + years of IT experience, including at least 8+ years of experience as an Appian Architect or Lead.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong hands-on experience with Appian 22.x or later, including Sites, Records, Interfaces, Process Models, ;Web APIs & Integration, AI Skills and RPA.
• Experience in Appian plug-in development using Java and/or integration with external systems.
• Proficiency in relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and query performance tuning.
• Expertise in designing scalable and reusable application components.
• Strong knowledge of Appian best practices, performance optimization, and security guidelines.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment for Appian applications (e.g., Jenkins, Git, ANT scripts).
• Appian Lead Developer (L3) certified.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience working in large-scale digital transformation or BPM initiatives.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience in other BPM or low-code platforms is an added advantage.
