Job summary

Ramboll Energy from Waste & Carbon Capture is seeking a Layout Engineer in Chennai to join a global, multidisciplinary team. You will create 2D/3D layouts for WtE, carbon capture, biogas and industrial plants using Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD.

You will coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and C&I disciplines, update models, review comments and support project documentation. This permanent, full‑time role offers international collaboration and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–10 years of plant layout engineering or drafting experience.
• Good English communication for collaboration with teams.
• Experience in AutCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation is must.
• 3D modeling in AutoCAD/Plant or Revit 3D is preferred.
• Exposure to industrial plants and process industry projects is desirable.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and be detail oriented.

• Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and C&I teams.
• Participate in layout review meetings and close review comments.
• Support document control and drawing register management for active projects.
• Site visits and collection of site information for layout development.

About the Role

• Preparation and updating of 2D and 3D layouts of WtE, Carbon Capture, Biogas and industrial plants using Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Development of plot plans, equipment layouts, building layouts, sections and general arrangement drawings.
• Support preparation and maintenance of integrated plant models for multidisciplinary coordination.
• Incorporate review comments from project engineers and global teams into layout models and drawings.
• Assist in model coordination, clash identification and space management activities.
• Support preparation and updating of PFDs, P&IDs and associated engineering drawings.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and C&I disciplines for layout development.
• Participate in layout review meetings and workshops and support closure of review comments.
• Support document control and drawing register management activities for active projects.
• Site visits, if required, and collection of site information required for layout development.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Bentley MicroStation, AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-10 years of experience in plant layout engineering, drafting or 3D modelling activities.
• Good English communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
• Experience in AutCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation is must
• 3D modeling experience in Auto plant and/or Revit 3D is preferred.
• Exposure to industrial plants, WtE, Thermal Power, Biogas, Energy or Process Industry projects is desirable.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings, layouts and modelling principles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn multidisciplinary plant design.
• Be diligent, focused and quality conscious.
• Ability to work effectively in a global and multicultural project environment.
• You are systematic and structured in your way of working and have a proactive attitude towards learning and development.
