2D/3D Plant Layout Engineer - Energy from Waste - Chennai

Job summary

Ramboll is seeking an experienced Mechanical Layout Engineer to support global operations in feasibility and project phases. You will prepare 2D/3D layouts for WtE, carbon capture, biogas and industrial plants using Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD, and develop plot plans and general arrangements.

Role involves coordination with process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and C&I teams, model coordination, and ensuring drawings reflect reviewer comments. Site visits may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-10 years of experience in plant layout engineering, drafting or 3D modelling activities.
• Good English communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
• Experience in AutCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation is must
• 3D modeling experience in Auto plant and/or Revit 3D is preferred.
• Exposure to industrial plants, WtE, Thermal Power, Biogas, Energy or Process Industry projects is desirable.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings, layouts and modelling principles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn multidisciplinary plant design.
• Be diligent, focused and quality conscious.
• Ability to work effectively in a global and multicultural project environment.
• You are systematic and structured in your way of working and have a proactive attitude towards learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and update 2D and 3D layouts of WtE, Carbon Capture, Biogas and industrial plants using Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD.

• Incorporate review comments into layout models and drawings.
• Assist in model coordination, clash identification and space management activities.
• Support preparation and updating of PFDs, P&IDs and related drawings.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and C&I disciplines for layout development.
• Participate in layout review meetings and workshops and close review comments.
• Support document control and drawing register management for active projects.
• Site visits and collection of site information for layout development.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Bentley MicroStation, AutoCAD and related software.

About the Role
