Job summary

AECOM’s Ireland water team seeks a Technical Director to lead delivery of water and wastewater schemes, driving strategic growth and technical excellence. You will mentor senior engineers, manage client relationships with Uisce Éireann, and steer multidisciplinary teams from feasibility to construction.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of operating within the island of Ireland and understanding the water industry and Uisce Éireann.
• Professional recognition as a Chartered Civil Engineer.
• Substantial experience in a senior leadership role within a consultancy or contracting environment.
• Demonstrated experience in business development and/or technical excellence.
• History of successful bidding and development of long-term, trusted client relationships.
• Strong business acumen, financial management capabilities, and exceptional communication skills.
• Solid track record of working on projects of varying size and complexity with direct client engagement.
• Experience with engineering design and safety practices, and procedures for health & safety, design, and QA.
• Supervising work to technical standards, coordinating across disciplines, and managing to programme and budget.

Responsibilities

• Client Relationship Management: act as trusted advisor to Uisce Éireann and foster long-term partnerships.
• Technical Oversight: lead multi-disciplinary engineers to deliver integrated designs across stages.
• Strategic Growth & Business Development: drive opportunities and lead bids with proposals and briefs.
• Team Management: mentor regional staff, promote collaboration, and coordinate with other lines.
