Job summary

Apleona UK is recruiting a Waste Operative to be based in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork. Working pattern Mon-Thu 08:00-16:30, Fri 08:00-15:30, 39 hours per week. Responsibilities include managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste on site and operating waste compactors and balers.

Candidate should have awareness of health and safety, good interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently with strong organisational abilities. Forklift training is a distinct advantage.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental or Waste management desirable but not essential.
• Ability to demonstrate awareness of Health and Safety good practice in relation to cleaning procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation.
• Ability to work on their own, well-organised and capable of prioritising own work.
• Flexible, Honest and reliable.
• Forklift training a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

• Service hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection points throughout client site.
• Empty Non-hazardous bins.
• Empty Hazardous waste bins.
• Filling and use of the general waste compactor.
• Filling and use of the Dry Mixed Recyclable Compactor; baling of cardboard, plastic and paper waste streams.
• Loading of curtainsiders and containers using a forklift.
• Complete ADR/IMDG paperwork for shipments of hazardous waste off site.
• Decant hazardous waste streams on site.
• Complete relevant paperwork regarding non-hazardous waste.
• Liaise with waste management vendors.
• Salting of the car park over winter months.
• Ad hoc duties as required by the line manager.

  At Apleona, we are currently recruiting for a Waste Operative to be based in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork

  Working Pattern: Mon - Thur (08.00-16.30), Fri (08.00-15.30), 39 hours per week

  Main duties and responsibilities

  General services operatives are responsible for dealing with hazardous and non hazardous waste management on site.

  • To service hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection points throughout client site
  • Empty Non-hazardous bins
  • Empty Hazardous waste bins
  • Filling and use of the general waste compactor
  • Filling and use of the Dry Mixed Recyclable Compactor Baling of cardboard, plastic, and paper waste streams
  • Loading of curtainsiders and containers by use of Forklift
  • Completion of all ADR/IMDG paperwork for shipments of hazardous waste off site
  • Decanting of hazardous waste streams on site
  • Completion of all relevant paperwork with regard non-hazardous waste
  • Other paperwork and admin duties
