Job summary

  • Computer skills: Proficient in MS Office tools.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in operations.
  • Forklift licence: Advantage if held.
  • Additional knowledge: DGSA/ADR/IMDG knowledge beneficial.

Job description

Role & Responsibilities
  • Safety first: Follow all site safety procedures and complete the required training to ensure work is carried out safely, correctly, and in line with workplace standards.
  • Waste movement coordination: Set up, organize, and manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste movements from the site, ensuring all materials, documentation, and processes are fully accurate.
  • Main waste contact: Act as the key point of contact for all waste movements on site, coordinating with relevant teams, customers, hauliers, and vendors.
  • Storage and identification: Ensure correct signage, labels, and identification are in place at all waste storage locations.
  • Waste material handling: Store waste materials in the designated stock locations, manage empty containers, and prepare waste for safe and compliant transport.
  • Transport readiness: Ensure waste materials are properly prepared so they can be safely loaded and transported according to required standards.
  • Waste registration: Maintain accurate and complete waste records to demonstrate compliance with legal and customer requirements at all times.
  • Meeting and audit support: Attend monthly operations meetings and other waste-related meetings as required, and support site audits by providing relevant information and documentation.
  • Customer support and training: Advise customers on correct waste handling practices and provide training where required.
  • Job documentation: Book inductions, obtain permits, and ensure method statements are signed on and off for each job.
  • Compliance and vendor monitoring: Audit paperwork, keep SOPs updated on the customer system, carry out haulier audits, and monitor vendors to ensure they remain approved.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Education: Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant experience: 1–2 years of experience in waste management or relevant experience in pharmaceutical, production, petrochemical, or similar environments.
  • Chemical handling: Experience or knowledge of chemical handling is preferred.
  • Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Good working knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Teamwork: Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively in an operational environment.
  • Forklift licence: A forklift licence would be an advantage.
  • Additional knowledge: Knowledge of DGSA, ADR, or IMDG requirements would be beneficial.
