Job summary

Mercy University Hospital in Cork is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) / Candidate CNS for Uro-Oncology Services. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing and working with Urology Consultants.

Responsibilities include providing a specialist Uro-Oncology nursing service, conducting comprehensive patient assessments, developing care plans, coordinating MDT referrals, and contributing to quality improvement and clinical standards within the CNS

Qualifications

• Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active register with NMBI or eligible for registration.
• Have completed a post-registration programme at Level 9 ( QQI/NFQ ) related to uro-oncology care.
• Minimum 3 years post-registration full-time experience in the division of the register.
• Minimum 2 years experience in Uro-Oncology, Oncology or Urology.
• Demonstrated CPD and ability to practice safely within scope.

Responsibilities

• Provide a specialist Uro-Oncology nursing service across the continuum of care.
• Undertake comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychological, social, spiritual).
• Develop and implement care plans with the MDT and patient/family.
• Identify referral pathways for Uro-Oncology care needs.
• Participate in MDT case reviews and maintain advocacy for patient involvement in decisions.
• Maintain clinical competence and contribute to standards and guidelines.
