Job summary

Merchants Quay Ireland is recruiting a Female Project Worker for Jane's Place, a women’s only trauma‑informed service in Dublin 2. You will work 1:1 with women facing complex needs and run psycho-educational group activities.

You will collaborate across services, support pathways out of homelessness, and advocate for women while maintaining a holistic, safe space. This role requires empathy and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Must have a relevant qualification (minimum QQI Level 7 or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years relevant employed work experience in busy low-threshold environment (addiction, homelessness, trauma, mental illness, domestic violence).
  • Knowledge of homeless service systems and pathways out of homelessness.
  • Ability to work with multiple presentations including addiction, mental illness, homelessness and trauma.
  • Experience in teamwork with independent work ability and good communication.
  • Self-care routine to prevent vicarious trauma and burnout.
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment models and harm reduction.
  • Experience of key working, case management and group facilitation.
  • Understanding challenges women with complex needs face; trauma-informed approach knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Target and engage with female service users (18+ with multiple disadvantages).
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the women’s service.
  • Provide 1:1 emotional support in times of crisis.
  • Collaborate with inter-agency services to meet complex needs.
  • Improve outcomes and create pathways to appropriate services.
  • Facilitate day-to-day operations of drop-in and appointment-based service.
  • Network with organisations supporting women with complex needs.
  • Provide empowering peer space and group activities.
  • Develop women’s groups with educational and emotional support.
  • Develop collaborative initiatives with specialist services.
