Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Dublin or Dundalk is seeking a Principal Engineer (Transportation) to lead planning and design of road, rail, and public transport schemes across Ireland.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status, strong design standards knowledge, and proven consultancy experience. The position offers hybrid working, international remote options, and a focus on client relationships and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in a consultancy environment.
• Educated to degree level in engineering (Level 8/9).
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
• Experience in planning and design of transportation schemes including feasibility studies and detailed design.
• Ability to manage multi-disciplinary design teams and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage, plan and design road, rail, public transport and active travel schemes across Ireland.
• Contribute to EIAR, CPO and other statutory processes.
• Prepare contract documents, procurement, and contract administration.
• Provide construction supervision and commercial management.
• Lead bids, develop tender proposals and build client relationships.
