Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our logistics team in Balbriggan, Co. Louth. You will coordinate daily transport operations across Ireland, the UK and Europe, focusing on efficiency and compliance.

The role requires 2-3 years in transport planning or related logistics, plus experience in haulage and international road freight, and strong Excel skills. You will liaise with drivers, customers, subcontractors and customs to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our growing logistics team based in Balbriggan, Co. Louth. This is an excellent opportunity for a transport professional with a strong background in haulage and international freight to play a key role in planning and coordinating daily transport operations across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily transport movements for domestic and international freight.
• Maximise vehicle utilisation while ensuring cost-effective route planning.
• Schedule and monitor collections and deliveries to meet customer deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, subcontractors, and overseas partners.
• Ensure compliance with EU drivers' hours, tachograph regulations, and transport legislation.
• Resolve operational issues quickly and maintain high service levels.
• Liaise with customs, ports, and ferry operators where required.
• Monitor vehicle performance, delivery schedules, and transport KPIs.
• Maintain accurate transport documentation and system records.
• Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers to ensure excellent service.

Requirements

• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a Transport Planner or similar logistics role.
• Previous experience within haulage and international road freight is essential.
• Strong knowledge of Irish, UK, and European transport operations.
• Excellent geographical knowledge of Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
• Experience using transport management systems (TMS).
• Good understanding of EU drivers' hours and transport compliance.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
