Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking an experienced Transport Coordinator in Ireland to take ownership of day-to-day transport operations. You will lead drivers, optimise routes and ensure compliance, handling issues promptly and maintaining high standards across the team.

The role requires strong people management, hands-on coordination, and the ability to think on your feet, including early mornings and occasional weekends when needed.

Transport Coordinator

We are looking for an experienced Transport Coordinator to take full ownership of the day-to-day transport operation.

This is a hands-on, operational role managing drivers, routes, vehicles and compliance. You’ll be responsible for keeping the operation running smoothly, dealing with issues as they arise and maintaining high standards across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and motivate a team of drivers
• Plan and adjust daily routes
• Deal with absences, breakdowns, delays and last-minute changes
• Recruit, onboard and manage driver performance
• Ensure compliance with tachographs, ADR, CVRT and Operator Licence requirements
• Coordinate vehicle servicing and maintenanceManage external logistics partners and suppliers
• Work closely with senior management to improve the operation

About You:

• Plus 5 years Strong experience in transport/logistics and driver management
• Confident dealing with people and difficult situations
• Resilient and calm under pressure
• Practical, organised and able to think on your feet
• Able to command respect from drivers
• Comfortable taking ownership and working independently
• C & CE licence is highly desirable

This role requires flexibility, including early mornings, evenings and occasional weekend involvement when required to manage the operation.

We are looking for someone who has been through the mill with drivers, understands transport from the ground up and can get things done without needing constant supervision.
