Job summary

KDM Hire Ireland seeks a Trainee/Junior Mechanic for our Dublin depot to assist the service team in maintaining and repairing our diverse fleet of heavy machinery. You will work with senior mechanics and perform basic repairs under supervision.

Hours are Mon–Thu 7:30am–5pm and Fri 7:30am–4pm at Stadium Business Park, Ballycoolin Road, Dublin 11. Leaving Cert or equivalent required, IT skills and a valid licence are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with machinery plant and equipment desirable.
  • Good all-round mechanical skills.
  • Experience working on diesel engines desirable.
  • Leaving Cert or equivalent.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot some mechanical issues.
  • Organised with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • IT proficient to record jobs electronically.
  • Valid driver’s licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior mechanics and other maintenance team.
  • Carry out basic mechanical repairs and maintenance under supervision.
  • Replace basic mechanical components such as filters, belts, hoses, brakes when trained.
  • Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during maintenance and repair work.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and working area.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and safe working practices, carry out routine inspections and report any faults or issues identified.
  • Assist with identifying basic mechanical faults and determining when further investigation is required.
  • Assist with dismantling, repair and reassembly of mechanical components.
  • Carry out basic servicing and preventative maintenance tasks.

We are delighted to be creating this brand-new position as part of the continued growth of our equipment rental business. As Trainee/Junior Mechanic you will be responsible for assisting the service team with maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and operational efficiency.
