Job summary

Ward & Burke is seeking a Technical Writer / Civil Engineer to prepare well-structured concept designs and technical narratives for water and wastewater projects at the Head Office in Kilcolgan, Galway. You will coordinate bid information from estimating, commercial, design and operations teams and translate complex data into clear responses.

The role requires managing deadlines, tender documentation and submissions, ensuring compliance with client criteria and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Strong written English and document preparation skills.
  • Knowledge of civil, structural and MEICA disciplines is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate PQQs, tender submissions and bid documentation.
  • Work with estimating, commercial, design and project teams to gather technical information.
  • Produce clear concept designs and responses tailored to tender requirements.

The Role

The successful candidate will prepare well-structured concept designs and technical narratives for civil engineering projects, particularly within the water and wastewater sector. This will include coordinating bid information from estimating, commercial, design and operational teams, and translating technical project information into clear, persuasive written responses. The role also involves managing deadlines, tender documentation and submissions, while ensuring each bid addresses the client’s project-specific requirements and scoring criteria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and coordinate PQQs, tender submissions and bid documentation.
  • Work with estimating, commercial, design and project teams to gather technical information.
  • Produce clear concept designs and responses tailored to individual tender requirements.
  • Manage bid programmes, deadlines, submission requirements and supporting documentation.
  • Review tender documents, request further information where required, and ensure responses address client criteria.
  • Maintain excellent attention to detail throughout all submissions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years’ previous experience in a similar role.
  • Construction and engineering experience is required, with a strong understanding of technical elements and associated health, safety and quality requirements.
  • Strong written English and document preparation skills are essential.
  • Proven ability to manage tender deadlines and coordinate information from multiple teams.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and document formatting skills.
  • Ability to develop tender programmes, including the use of Microsoft Project, is preferable.
  • Knowledge across civil, structural and MEICA disciplines is preferable.
