Job summary

Anson McCade is seeking an experienced Development Lead with payments domain expertise to drive design, development and delivery of large-scale payment solutions using ICON IPF in cloud-based architectures.

You will provide technical leadership to engineering teams while remaining hands-on with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, collaborating closely with banking clients and internal stakeholders in an Agile Scrum setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience implementing ICON IPF or a payments framework in a banking setting.
• Strong Java development skills (Java 17+).
• Expertise with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Proven technical leadership within software teams.
• Experience with Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Background working with major banking/financial services clients.
• Familiarity with Reactive Java or Akka.
• Experience with production support and release management.
• Experience delivering solutions through deployment, go-live and hypercare.
• Experience in complex enterprise payment environments.

Responsibilities

We're working with a leading global technology and professional services organisation to find an experienced Development Lead with a strong background in payments technology and Java engineering.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer or technical lead with hands-on experience of ICON Payments Framework (IPF), who can combine strong technical delivery with leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management.

The Role

You'll lead the design, development and implementation of large-scale payment solutions within modern, cloud-based architectures.

Working closely with major banking and financial services clients, you'll provide technical leadership across development teams while remaining hands-on with engineering. You'll collaborate with architects, product owners, QA, DevOps and business stakeholders within Agile Scrum environments.

Key Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience implementing ICON IPF or a similar payments framework within a banking environment
• Strong Java development experience, ideally Java 17+
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices
• Proven technical leadership experience within software engineering teams
• Experience with Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging
• Experience working closely with major banking or financial services clients
• Experience with Reactive Java / Akka
• Production support and release management experience
• Experience supporting solutions through deployment, go-live, hypercare and post-production resolution
