Job summary

Anson McCade is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join a high-performing payments technology team. The role focuses on hands-on Java development (Java 11) within cloud-based architectures and microservices, with direct exposure to ICON IPF andISO 20022 payment platforms. You will work on large-scale payment systems for major banking clients.

The ideal candidate has ICON IPF experience, IPF certification, and a track record delivering complex payments solutions in enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• 18+ months' experience with the ICON platform.
• IPF certification.
• Experience delivering complex payments solutions in enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11, Spring Boot and microservices.
• Experience with ISO 20022 payments and payment schemes.

We’re currently supporting a leading global technology and professional services organisation in the search for an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join a high-performing payments technology team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineer with strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, AWS and microservices, ideally with direct experience of ICON IPF and payment platforms.

The Role:

You’ll work on the delivery of large-scale payment systems, contributing to modern cloud-based architectures and collaborating closely with major banking and financial services clients.

The role will involve hands‑on development, technical problem‑solving and working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable payment solutions.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java 11, Spring Boot and microservices
• Experience with Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging
• Strong understanding of ISO 20022 payments, including payment types and schemes
• Hands‑on experience implementing ICON IPF
• Experience working with major banking or financial services clients
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working within modern, cloud-based technology environments
• 18+ months' experience working with the ICON platform
• IPF certification
• Experience delivering complex payments solutions within enterprise environments
