Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Technical Design Manager for a leading Irish fit-out and specialist racking firm. You will lead the design function across both divisions and mentor a small team to deliver high-quality drawings and specifications.

Collaborate with Sales, Estimation, Project Management and Operations to deliver practical, commercially viable design solutions while ensuring compliance with building regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architectural Technology, Architectural Design, Engineering or related field.
• Experience in technical design and drawing production for commercial fit-out or specialist contracting.
• Experience leading a design team or strong leadership potential.
• Deep understanding of construction detailing, materials and buildability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the design function across fit-out and specialist racking divisions.
• Mentor and set priorities for a small design team.
• Produce, review and coordinate drawings, schedules and specs for projects including glazed partitions and racking/storage.
• Collaborate with Sales, Estimation, Project Management and Operations to deliver practical design solutions.

About Your New Job

• As the Technical Design Manager,you will lead and develop the design function across both fit-out and specialist racking divisions.
• Manage, mentor, and set priorities for a small team of design professionals, ensuring high-quality design outputs.
• Produce, review, and coordinate technical drawings, schedules, and specifications for projects including glazed partitions, folding wall systems, and racking/storage solutions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Estimation, Project Management, and Operations to deliver practical and commercially viable design solutions.
• Oversee compliance with building regulations, safety standards, and client specifications, and drive continuous improvement in design processes and quality assurance.

What Skills You Need

• Degree/diploma in Architectural Technology, Architectural Design, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in technical design and drawing production, ideally in commercial fit-out or specialist contracting.
• Experience managing, mentoring, or leading a design team, or strong leadership potential.
• Deep understanding of construction detailing, materials, and buildability, with a commercial mindset.
• Proficient with CAD/BIM and relevant design software.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, able to work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
