Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a part-time Support Service Assistant to provide domestic and catering support, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.

The role follows NHS Scotland cleaning specifications and requires flexibility to rotate across clinical areas; training will be provided on safety, COSHH, infection control and machinery use.

Qualifications

• Induction training provided.
• Training in the use of all machinery used.
• Health and Safety knowledge (training provided).
• COSHH knowledge (training provided).
• Lifting and Handling knowledge (training provided).
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate (training provided).
• Infection Control practices training provided.

Responsibilities

• All aspects of cleaning ensuring cleaning work schedules are followed.
• Removal and disposal of waste.
• Litter picking within 10m radius of buildings.
• Curtain/Screen Hanging.
• Meal service tasks (including plating meals) per HACCP system.
• Record temperatures for food, fridge and hot plates per HACCP system.
• Dishwashing.
• Collect and distribute on site mail.
• Collection and transmission of specimens and sharps boxes.

Job description

The Role

The predominant purpose of the Support Service Assistant role is to provide a quality domestic and catering services ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors. Please note within the Health centres it is a core cleaning service only.

You will be following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired infection (HAI_ Task Force Code of Practice).

There is the requirement to rotate around our clinical areas and all departments, Present an efficient, high quality service to patients and staff, follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas.

There is the requirement for you have a flexible approach to daily routine. There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions. You will use of mechanical cleaning equipment. You should inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials as required and check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment. You will wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work. All necessary training will be offered to ensure your working environment is safe, and you are confident within your role.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Location: Dykebar Hospital
• Contract Type: Permanent
• Hours: 14.76 Hours
• Shift Pattern is Monday to Friday 16.00 – 19.00

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge of all of aspects Integrated Service as in job purpose (Induction training provided)
• Training in the use of all machinery used (Training provided)
• Knowledge of Health and Safety (Training provided)
• Knowledge of COSHH (Training provided)
• Knowledge of Lifting and Handling (Training provided)
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate (Training provided)
• Knowledge of Infection Control practices (Training provided)
• For tasks involving driving duties a driving licence is necessary
