Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree (Level 7+) required.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Right to work in Ireland.
• Experience in construction, structural investigations, or materials testing desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out testing on structures on-site and in controlled environments.

• Prepare test reports and certificates using MS Word, MS Excel, CAD and Adobe, following company templates.
• Complete testing documentation on site and maintain accurate records for investigations.

• Assist in upkeep, maintenance, and calibration of equipment.
• Attend and complete training courses on test methods and safety.

Job description

Metlab, now part of WH Scott Group, is seeking a motivated technician to join our team. This is a hands‑on role carrying out essential structural investigations and materials testing and contributing to our commitment to quality and safety in the civil engineering industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out various types of testing on structures, on-site and in controlled environments.
• Conduct on‑site sampling of materials for follow‑on laboratory analysis and in‑situ testing on structures.
• Perform laboratory and field‑testing methods in accordance with standards including BS1377, EN933, EN12390, EN12504 and other relevant civil engineering standards and guidelines.
• Assist with both laboratory and field‑based testing activities.
• Develop and apply computer skills using various software including MS Word, MS Excel, CAD and Adobe for the preparation of test reports and certificates, following approved company templates.
• Complete testing documentation on site and maintain accurate records for all investigation works.
• Adhere to the Company's documented Quality and Safety systems.
• Assist in the upkeep, maintenance, and calibration of all company equipment.
• Attend and successfully complete training courses on test methods and safety requirements as needed.
• Develop a strong understanding of national, international, and client‑specific standards relevant to both CMT and structural tests and results interpretation.

Qualifications & Experience

• A Civil Engineering degree (Level 7 or higher) or a similar qualification is required for this role.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Right to work in Ireland.
• Previous experience in construction, structural investigations, materials testing, civil engineering, or related industries is desirable but not essential.
