Job summary

Global Professional Consultants Ireland is seeking a Structural Design Team Lead to oversee the design and delivery of HV substation projects. This role involves leading a dynamic team of structural engineers while ensuring the successful completion of projects across Ireland and internationally.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least four years of relevant experience. The position offers a hybrid working model and various benefits including health insurance discounts and a pension.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ structural design experience within utilities or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of steel and concrete design.
• Full driver’s licence required.

Responsibilities

Location: Dublin / Any of the offices Nationwide (Hybrid Option)

Salary: €90k–€100k DOE + benefits (22 days leave, health insurance discount, death in service)

Lead a dynamic team at a leading utility infrastructure consultancy, overseeing the structural design and delivery of HV substation projects across Ireland, the UK, and international markets.

Role:

• Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers delivering substation projects.
• Oversee the design of steel structures, foundations, gantries, and associated civil works.
• Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Manage project resources, technical queries, and design risk assessments.
• Support site activities and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 4+ years’ structural design experience, ideally within utilities, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of steel and concrete design and relevant design standards.
• Leadership experience and excellent communication skills.
• Full driver’s licence required.
