Job summary

Brightwater Recruitment is seeking a Senior Commercial Executive for its Irish insurance brokerage client in Athlone. The role focuses on managing a portfolio of high-value commercial clients, driving growth, renewals and new business while mentoring junior team members.

You will own the client portfolio end to end, engage with insurers, and shape best practice across the function in a strategic advisory capacity. 4+ years in commercial insurance and CIP are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in commercial insurance broking or underwriting, managing complex client portfolios.
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and the Irish market.
• Proven track record in client retention, portfolio growth and new business generation.
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Build long term partnerships with key commercial clients, acting as a trusted advisor on all insurance and risk matters.
• Own a client portfolio end to end, ensuring retention and profitability and identifying cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
• Lead the full renewal process for complex commercial risks, including market engagement, placement structuring and negotiation of terms.
• Identify, pursue and convert new business opportunities to achieve agreed revenue targets.
• Analyse client risk profiles in depth and deliver tailored, strategic insurance solutions.
• Use strong insurer relationships to secure competitive terms, staying current on market trends, pricing and emerging products.
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and company procedures, maintaining audit-ready documentation.
• Act as a senior point of contact, mentoring junior colleagues and supporting team development.
• Advise leadership on market conditions, product innovation and service improvements.
• Lead client meetings, strategic reviews, renewal presentations and prospect pitches.
