A senior commercial role focused on strategic relationships, customer retention and profitable account growth.
About GridBeyond
GridBeyond is a global energy technology company using AI, market expertise and advanced optimisation to create value from energy demand, generation and storage. We help customers reduce costs, unlock new revenue and support the transition to a zero-carbon energy system.
The Opportunity
You will own and grow a portfolio of strategically important customers across the UK and Ireland. Working closely with the Head of Portfolio, you will build trusted senior relationships, understand each customer’s operations, assets and energy strategy, and convert evolving needs into valuable cross-sell, upsell and renewal opportunities. This is a growth role, not simply an account-maintenance position.
Strategic Account Leadership
- Take direct ownership of assigned strategic customers and the long-term commercial health of each relationship.
- Build trusted relationships across executive, finance, sustainability, energy, procurement and operational stakeholders.
- Develop structured account plans covering customer priorities, stakeholder maps, service performance, risks, renewal strategy and growth opportunities.
- Establish regular strategic reviews that look beyond current delivery to future requirements, investment plans and commercial opportunities.
- Ensure relationships are established at multiple levels and are not dependent on a single customer contact.
Growing the Existing Portfolio
- Identify where GridBeyond can deliver additional value through flexibility, optimisation, energy markets, BESS, renewable generation, trading and related services.
- Expand successful services across additional customer sites, assets, business units and geographies.
- Use renewals as an opportunity to broaden the relationship and increase GridBeyond’s share of wallet.
Commercial Development
- Own opportunities generated within assigned accounts from initial qualification through proposition, negotiation and close.
- Build compelling customer propositions and business cases with support from specialist GridBeyond teams.
- Maintain a qualified pipeline with clear visibility of value, probability, decision process, ownership and next steps.
- Lead commercial discussions and negotiations, involving the Head of Portfolio on larger or more complex opportunities.
- Support selected new strategic opportunities where they complement the wider portfolio strategy.
- Develop a detailed understanding of each customer’s business model, operational constraints, energy infrastructure and future plans.
- Engage proactively on energy strategy, investment priorities and changes to load, generation, storage or infrastructure.
- Identify emerging requirements before they become formal procurement exercises.
- Translate business and operational challenges into practical GridBeyond solutions.
- Bring customer insight into GridBeyond to influence product development and future propositions.
Retention, Value & Risk
- Work closely with Customer Success to provide a consistently high-quality customer experience.
- Ensure customers understand the operational and commercial value delivered by existing services.
- Review performance, identify areas for improvement and address service, relationship or commercial risks early.
- Develop renewal strategies that protect retention while creating a platform for further growth.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Coordinate Trading, Optimisation, Product, Technology, Engineering, Operations and Customer Success around customer priorities.
- Translate complex requirements into clear internal commercial objectives and ensure proposed solutions are deliverable.
- Represent GridBeyond at senior customer meetings, industry events and relevant market forums.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in strategic account management, business development or commercial growth within energy, technology or another complex B2B market.
- A proven record of managing high-value customer relationships and growing revenue from an existing customer base.
- Commercial confidence, including developing propositions, building business cases and negotiating significant contracts.
- Ability to understand technical and commercial propositions and communicate them clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Structured account-planning, pipeline-management and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of UK and/or Irish electricity markets, or the ability to build that knowledge quickly.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and the ability to coordinate multiple internal teams around the customer.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with large energy users, utilities, suppliers, BESS, renewable generation, demand response, flexibility, trading or optimisation.
- Exposure to data centres, energy-intensive customers, system operators, aggregators or energy technology providers.
- Understanding of flexibility, ancillary services and wider energy-optimisation markets.
What Success Looks Like
- Strong retention and successful renewal of strategic customers.
- A healthy, qualified pipeline of cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
- Revenue growth, greater share of wallet and wider use of GridBeyond services across customer estates.
- Trusted senior relationships, with customers viewing GridBeyond as a strategic energy partner.
- Clear account plans that identify risks, priorities and measurable growth opportunities.
