Job summary

Medserv is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to modernise our core platform. You will be among the most senior engineers driving architecture, design, and delivery across PHP/Laravel and AI-enabled features for claims processing and billing.

You’ll shape APIs, review code, mentor peers and collaborate with DevOps to improve CI/CD, testing and observability while maintaining high reliability in a hybrid Dublin-based environment.

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience with PHP.
• Experience with Laravel or another modern PHP framework.
• Strong system design and database skills.
• Experience modernising complex or legacy platforms.
• Good knowledge of MySQL, APIs, security and automated testing.
• Strong technical judgement and the ability to work through ambiguity.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Experience with React, Vue or TypeScript is useful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from discovery through to production.
• Shape platform architecture, APIs, data ownership and service boundaries.
• Design and build scalable PHP and Laravel systems.
• Help modernise legacy applications safely and pragmatically.
• Review critical code and improve engineering standards.
• Support production incidents and long‑term reliability improvements.
• Mentor engineers and guide technical decisions.
• Work with DevOps to improve CI/CD, testing and observability.
• Contribute to AI‑assisted product capabilities.
