Software Engineer – C#/.NET

CompuStaff is recruiting a Software Engineer on behalf of a leading global SaaS company with a growing R&D centre in Galway.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced C#/.NET developer to join a growing engineering team working on modern SaaS products, cloud technology and a major AI-led transformation programme.

The role is primarily suited to a strong C#/.NET engineer who is interested in expanding their skill set and learning PHP. You don't need to be an experienced PHP developer — a willingness and ability to learn is what matters.

The Role

You'll join a collaborative engineering team developing and enhancing scalable SaaS applications used by customers internationally.

You'll work across backend services, APIs and existing product platforms, with the opportunity to gain experience across both C#/.NET and PHP as the platform continues to evolve.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop, test and maintain software using C#/.NET.
• Develop and maintain APIs and backend services.
• Work with existing PHP applications and develop your PHP skills.
• Build new features and enhance existing SaaS products.
• Work with Product, QA and Engineering teams to deliver quality software.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and improve application performance.
• Contribute to platform modernisation and cloud-based development.

What we're looking for

• Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET.
• Experience developing scalable backend applications and REST APIs.
• Good SQL/database experience.
• Experience working with Git and modern development practices.
• A solid understanding of software engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• A willingness to learn PHP and work across different technologies.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

Desirable

Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:

• PHP
• React, Angular or similar frontend technologies
• Azure or AWS
• Docker/Kubernetes
• Redis, Kafka or other messaging technologies
• .NET Core / .NET 6+
