Job summary

Preply is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer in Dublin to lead across the Platform Tribe, shaping architecture, standards and tooling for high-traffic systems. You will mentor engineers, drive reliability improvements, and deliver hands-on platform work with an emphasis on AI-assisted coding and scalable infrastructure.

You will collaborate across squads to ensure production readiness, optimize delivery workflows, and raise the bar for architectural excellence in a fast‑moving Ed‑Tech environment.

Qualifications

• Senior leader capable of delivering cross-team impact
• Extensive experience designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-traffic distributed systems
• Deep DevOps and cloud infrastructure experience (preferably AWS)
• Experience with CI/CD systems, build/test reliability, and developer workflows
• Strong reliability engineering foundations: observability, alerting, incident response, capacity planning
• Excellent communication and influence across teams via RFCs and architectural decisions
• Comfort writing production-quality tooling with AI-assisted coding

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across platform squads: architecture decisions, standards, paved paths, reusable patterns
• Lead cross-squad initiatives to improve code-to-production delivery and self-service entry points
• Drive operability improvements: SLO thinking, dashboards, alerting standards, runbooks
• Deep-dive into high-impact reliability and performance problems with root-cause analysis and automation
• Build and operate critical platform services with strong engineering quality
• Mentor senior engineers and tech leads to raise execution standards
• Use data to guide priorities and measure delivery health, reliability and adoption
• Participate in on-call and incident response, improving execution and prevention
