Job summary

Kare is seeking a Speech & Language Therapist (Basic Grade) for the South Kildare West Wicklow CDNT in Athy, Co. Kildare. The role is a permanent contract, 35 hours per week, with a salary scale from €45,514 to €52,545 per year. CORU registration is required and a valid driver's licence is essential.

The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team delivering family-centred services to children aged 0-18 with complex needs, ensuring high-quality outcomes and service development.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Speech & Language qualification recognised by the SLT Registration Board at CORU.

Job description

Speech & Language Therapist (Basic Grade)
South Kildare West Wicklow Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT)

Permanent Contract - 35 hours per week

Location: Athy, Co. Kildare

Speech & Language Therapist Salary Scale: Point 1 €45,514 to max Point 5 €52,545

In line with the HSE National Programme for Progressing Disability Services , Kare is the Lead Agency for the provision of supports across South Kildare West Wicklow. The successful candidate will join an established Interdisciplinary CDNT, which reconfigured in 2014, providing quality, evidenced based and family-centred supports for children and young people aged 0-18 years, who present with complex needs associated with a disability, within an interdisciplinary framework, to support their development to enable active participation in community life.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing high quality services to children and young people with a range of disabilities and complex needs
  • Collaborating with children/young people while working in partnership with their family/carers and other relevant stakeholders to identify and achieve goals
  • Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in the planning and delivery of services
  • Taking initiative to move the service forward and show a willingness to try out new ideas that add service delivery value
  • Ensure that all records and technical data are up to date and available if required
  • Ensure strict compliance with health and safety standards and adhere to operational guidelines
Requirements:
  • Hold a Speech & Language qualification recognised by the SLT Registration Board at CORU
  • Be CORU registered
  • Demonstrate a level of clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning skills and evidence based practice appropriate to carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the role in line with relevant legislation and standards
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate in partnership with others
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead on planning, organising and delivering services in an efficient, effective and resourceful manner, within a model of patient centred
  • Must have a full, valid drivers licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Must be eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant post graduate experience and/or under-graduate placement experience in a paediatric/disability setting.
  • Experience of interdisciplinary team working
  • Experience delivering training to families and carers
