Job summary

First Point Group is seeking a Solution Architect to provide architectural leadership within a customer environment in Ireland. The role combines hands-on integration support with end-to-end lifecycle management of voice and signalling infrastructure across Nokia MSS/MGW, TeleSys SS7 Firewall, and Oracle SBC platforms.

Solution Architect – Core Network - Nokia MSS/MGW, SS7 (teleSys preferable), Oracle SBC

Location: Ireland (Hybrid On‑Site with Customer)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with strong technical project management capability to act as a resident expert across Nokia Circuit‑Switched Core, TeleSys SS7 Firewall, and Oracle SBC platforms. This role is embedded directly within the customer organisation, providing high‑level architectural leadership, hands‑on integration support, and end‑to‑end lifecycle management of critical voice and signalling infrastructure.

You will serve as the technical authority for design, change governance, capacity planning, and complex troubleshooting—while acting as the key interface between customer operations, vendor engineering teams, and programme delivery stakeholders. Deep expertise with TeleSys SS7 is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce HLD/LLD design documentation for Nokia R4 MSS/MGW (DX200, ATCA), Oracle SBC, and TeleSys SS7 / Voice Firewall platforms.
• Create and validate Datafill, MOPs, routing plans, and integration procedures.
• Own cross‑functional design governance for all touchpoints into the CS Core, TeleSys SS7 Firewall, and Oracle SBC estate.
• Technical Project Management
• Lead impact assessments, resource planning, and delivery effort estimation for new projects.
• Manage escalations, highlight risks, and ensure alignment with customer PMO and operational teams.
• Attend programme review meetings, presenting solution status, risks, and technical dependencies.
• Operational Excellence & Resident Engineering
• Provide Level 2/3 support for incident recovery, dump analysis, protocol trace decoding, and emergency patch deployment.
• Conduct proactive maintenance: health checks, capacity tracking, databuild updates, and traffic refarming (including 3G sunset activities).
• Maintain strict SLA compliance and act as the technical escalation point for NOC and operations teams.
• Change & Capacity Management
• Own the customer’s change management process for Nokia R4, TeleSys SS7, Voice Firewalls, and Oracle SBC.
• Review, approve, and assess impact of proposed changes; maintain change checklists and documentation.
• Manage capacity headroom across core elements and interconnects; recommend licensing and resource expansions.
• Liaise with Operations, PMO, and vendor engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Provide mentorship and knowledge transfer to local engineering teams.

Required Technical Skills & Experience

• Signalling: SS7, SIGTRAN (M3UA, SCTP), ISUP, MAP – strong TeleSys SS7 experience required.
• Core Network Topology: 2G/3G CS Core (A, Iu‑CS, Nc, Nb, Mc), TDM/E1, ATM, IP.
• Vendor Platforms: Nokia DX200/ATCA CLI & hardware management.
• Diagnostics: Wireshark, Tektronix, Iris/GEO trace analysis.
• Incident Recovery: Outage handling, dump analysis, emergency patching, RCA creation.
• Maintenance: SMU upgrades, health checks, capacity tracking, MW execution.
• Interworking: CSFB, VoLTE/IMS, 4G/5G voice continuity.
• Regulatory: ComReg compliance, emergency call routing (112/999), LI awareness.
