Job summary

Fanning Electrical & Solar Ltd in Kilkenny is seeking a full-time Solar Electrician to install, test and commission solar PV systems on residential, commercial and light industrial sites. Qualifications

• Strong foundation in electricity and electrical work, including safe handling of electrical systems and components.
• Experience with maintenance & repair and troubleshooting of electrical and solar PV installations.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles relevant to solar and general electrical systems.
• Recognized electrical qualification or apprenticeship completion, with up-to-date certifications as required by local regulations.
• Understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, mounting structures, and grid connection standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals.
• Commitment to health and safety practices, including use of PPE and adherence to site safety protocols.
• Good communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a site-based team.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites within the region.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Solar Electrician role based in Kilkenny. The Solar Electrician will install, test, and commission solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, and associated electrical components, in line with regulatory standards and company procedures. Day-to-day tasks include performing electrical wiring and connections, carrying out maintenance and repair work, diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring safe operation of all installations. The role involves reading and interpreting electrical drawings, completing documentation and reports, coordinating with team members and site supervisors, and interacting professionally with clients. The Solar Electrician will also support periodic inspections, upgrades, and compliance checks for existing systems and contribute to continuous improvement of installation practices.
