Job summary

TCC Recruitment is seeking Social Care Workers for frontline roles in Daingean, Co. Offaly and Thurles, Co. Tipperary. The positions involve delivering relationship-based care in a trauma-informed residential setting and supporting young people to develop confidence and life skills.

Role requires driving licence and CORU registration, with Garda vetting and Children First training as part of the onboarding process. Competitive salary and a 40-hour week, rotating shifts, are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum QQI Level 7 qualification in Social Care Studies, Applied Social Studies in Social Care or CORU-recognised equivalent.
  • Full CORU registration as a Social Care Worker, or evidence that registration has been applied for.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to own transport.
  • Willingness to complete Garda vetting process through Meas Mór before commencing employment.
  • Children First training, or willingness to complete the required training prior to commencement.
  • Previous experience within mainstream children’s residential care, youth work, a Tusla-regulated service or community and family support.
  • Experience supporting young people with emotional or behavioural difficulties, trauma histories or complex needs.
  • Training in therapeutic crisis intervention, MAPA or another relevant trauma-informed approach.
  • First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, relationship-based care and support in accordance with individual Care and Placement Plans.
  • Act as Key Worker for assigned young people.
  • Take responsibility for appropriate care planning, review and advocacy.
  • Support young people with education, healthcare, nutrition, personal care, household routines and recreational activities.
  • Undertake planned and informal direct work to support emotional wellbeing, personal development and positive identity.
  • Support young people to build and maintain appropriate relationships with family, schools and their community.
  • Attend care reviews, school meetings, CAMHS appointments and other multi-agency meetings where required.
  • Complete daily records, care documentation, incident reports, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
  • Maintain a safe physical environment within the residential home.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and ongoing professional development.
  • Comply with Meas Mór policies, Tusla requirements, HIQA National Standards and all relevant legislation.

Salary: €36,000–€45,000 per annum, depending on mainstream experience and qualifications

Working Hours: 40 hours per week on a rotating shift basis, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

About the Role

Our client is recruiting Social Care Workers to join its children’s residential care service in Daingean, Co. Offaly and Thurles, Co. Tipperary

This is a frontline position working directly with children and young people within a trauma-informed, relationship-based model of care.

You will help create a safe, stable and nurturing home environment while supporting young people to develop confidence, independence, positive relationships and skills for the future.

Key Responsibilities

Candidates from the disability sector who are CORU registered and can demonstrate strong person-centred practice alongside a genuine motivation to work in children’s residential care will also be considered.
