Job summary

Autism A Chara in Stillorgan, Co. Dublin, is seeking a Social Care Worker for a 39-hour per week contract to cover maternity leave. The role requires a QQI Level 7 Social Care qualification and CORU registration eligibility, plus experience with complex needs.

Availability for roastered shifts, including evenings, weekends and night duty, and a full Irish driving licence are essential. We offer education support, a company pension, sick pay, maternity/paternity leave, 22 days annual leave,

Qualifications

• Proof of CORU registration as Social Care Worker or application in progress.
• At least 6 months recent experience in social care supporting people with complex needs.

Essential criteria for the position of Social Care Worker:

• A full QQI level 7 Award in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Studies/Practice at degree level is essential
• Eligible to register with CORU as a Social Care Worker
• At least six month's recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting people with complex needs
• Availability to work shifts on a rota basis including evenings and weekends and waking night duty shifts
• Full, clean Irish drivers licence (manual) essential with requirement to drive service vehicles
• Permission to work in Ireland essential

Qualifications required for a Social Care Worker:

• A full QQI level 7 Award in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Studies/Practice at degree level is essential, (or relevant schedule 3 qualification as listed on CORUs website) with at least 6 months recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting people with complex needs
• Proof of successful registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker
• OR proof of application in progress with CORU.

Skills/Abilities required of a Social Care Worker:

• Proven knowledge of current legislation and regulations relating to the Social Care Sector
• Understanding of the needs and rights of individuals with autism
• Proven ability to work on own initiative
• Proven experience in the implementation and development of support/care plans and PCP’s
• Places the needs of the person supported as the key focus in all activities
• Delivers support according to the person’s PCP and care plan
• Fluent English and excellent communication skills
